Happy Halloween!
I'm tired, this whole time changing thing has me all screwed up. Well, that and I was quite tired after yesterday. Work all day, then go to big band concert (which was really good and really fun), and then eat out afterwards, then drive home before I get TOO sleepy.
Still tired of school, and I really want/need a break like everyone else in moderately challenging classes. All I need is a three day weekend, that's all I ask, I'd take off a class day, but seeing as I get docked in my grade if I miss over 2 classes, that won't be happening. I need those days incase I get sick and don't want to go to a doctor.
Oh boy, I should get some more stuff done for packaging design, but I'm not sure what else to do. My teacher isn't giving as much straight forward guidance which is good and bad. I'm still a student, and have never done a package design before, so I think more direct rules and guidelines would be good. Though without the guidance it's a little more "real world". She also wanted some computer stuff for tomorrow, but I hate doing crap on the computer before I have a somewhat clear idea of what I'm doing, and I have three fairly vague ideas. So no computer stuff for me.
I think I'm just going to go to bed a little early so that maybe I'll have more hutzpah to get more things done tomorrow. Such an exciting Halloween, I know.

Falling Back
So...tonight I worked. Made 50 bucks so not too shabby, not too shabby. I got a fair amount of homework done today, but I really need to start thinking about my timeline project for my Graphic Design History class before everything gets too involved in Advertising again. Always something.
I took some more "motion" shots today, I hope most will come out alright. It would suck to have to re-shoot. My friend invited me to take pictures of her dance troupe rehearsal this morning, so I think I got some interesting shots in there. I also made Boscoe flap his wings and took shots of that.
Now what was really cool today is that I went shopping...for me! NOT for school supplies or anything I needed necessarily, but I went out and got myself a whole new outfit. My excuse for it is I needed something for tomorrow night (big band concert, but isn't really that dressy, but an excuse nonetheless). I didn't get anything fancy, but it's nicer stuff than I usually wear: button up shirt, cool new jeans (ok, yeah, I wear jeans all the time, but these ones are cool!), and some new brown suede boots "don't you step on my brown (not blue) suede shoes". It'll be my "cowgirl" outfit (I should have gotten a hat too, darn). All prices marked down, oh yeah, and I also got another sweater. Sweaters are nice. I like sweaters. They're like portable blankets. Blankets feel like sleep. I like sleep.
Now I've got to work all day tomorrow, and then hopefully get off in time to see the Haltom City Big Band (I guess it's a little late to be advertising it NOW, but the website is based off of my flier design (which was never printed, and for some reason there isn't a link to the pdf of my flier) le sigh). Oh, and the time is half an hour late on the website/flier it actually starts at 7, but whatever, not like anyone's going to make plans for it now if they haven't already heard of it. Should be fun though.
So I'm going to head off to bed now, and don't ya'll forget to turn your clocks back ya hear! (One hour behind, so we gain an hour and go BACK in time.) Fall Back people.

New High Score!
1,513 feet on the Kitten Cannon. Woo Hoo.
That game is so awful, but somehow still entertaining. I'm such a bad person, and I really like cats too.
My night class was very entertaining tonight. See, we have these group presentations starting up (my group doesn't have to go until December something)and one of the groups made this horrid, horrid video, but it was oh so funny. They used little stick puppets and things and it was very Monty Python-esque, and just so silly. I haven't laughed that hard in long, long time. It's hard to describe why it was so funny without actually showing the video, hopefully they'll make copies and give/sell them to the class. I'm quite sure just about everyone will want one.
What was really fun is that they made fun of our professor and that's only funny if you've had him for a class. Just one of those "insider" things I guess.
I've had a rather pleasant day of video gaming. It's nice to take a little break before the next big assignment, Lord knows I won't get another one for a while. I'm sure I'll have homework over Thanksgiving (I usually do), but I'm looking forward to the holidays coming up.
Hopefully I'll figure out what classes I need tomorrow, I'm meeting with an advisor to discuss my Degree Plan. I need to have a minor to graduate (just required with my major) and I'm not allowed to major in another art field, and I've always kind of thought about education, but I'm not all that sure. I'm actually not looking for anything TOO challenging because I don't want to detract from my MAJOR classes. When I think that though, I feel I'm just being lazy, but I just really don't know what else I really WANT to persue. I don't know, maybe I'll do Anthropology or something, I've really liked the two classes I've already taken, and I would think Cultural Anthropology could be really helpful to my major.
Food for thought, I just need some classes for next semester, and it would be great if I get to graduate by Spring 2007. I guess I'll head to bed or something. Night all

Kitten Cannon
Yay! My Internet is fixed (again) and I'm not doing anything productive (like I should be) and instead I'm playing bad games online (like Kitten Cannon). I think I am going to do some homework now though, I've wasted enough time.
I'm not very fond of homework though. Stupid working at the home stuff.

Turned In
So I've finally turned in my Ad Campaign, about time too. I am pretty happy with how my turned out, I think it stands out fairly well. It's a little depressing though because the other class' (with the prof I had LAST semester) just completely blows all of our (my class) campaigns out of the water. Not that there wasn't good thinking and ideas in our class, but their execution just looked so much more professional. Not just a few looked "professional" like in our class, but EVERYONE'S looked great. Sure some were better than others, but mine would have been at the "low" end if I presented with the other class. Whereas I like to think in my class mine is at least a little better than the average of the class. (With my luck I'll end up getting a 79 in here too.)
The other prof just has better Art Directing skills than the my current prof. He can lead EVERYONE to a better look with his input and suggestions. All this is still the student's work, but we are all very much in need of a critical eye and critical suggestions, as I suspect we always will be, but in time will be better equipped to do more of it ourselves.
So that's done...and after spending lots of money yesterday I think I'm going to stay at home mostly today (bought boards to present project, got the bird some new toys, got expensive ass photography stuff, and then got some groceries).
I'm pretty tired now, even though I really didn't stay up that late last night. I think it's the accumulated lack of rest throughout the semester and now I get a couple days of rest until I have to get cracking on the next project. Well, sort of rest, I do have 30 thumbnail revisions to do for Packaging, but that shouldn't be too bad.
I really want it to be Christmas break already, or Thanksgiving at least (which will obviously come first) cause I'm starting to feel a little burned. Yay project done.

Still Here
So, um...my printouts look like crap, and now I'm waiting forever to save my final versions onto my flash drive. I don't know if I'm going to try get these printed somewhere else tonight, or try and do it tomorrow. I'd prefer tonight, but I still have thumbnails to do. Grr...
Yeah, and I skipped my Chem Lab. Boo chemistry.

Volatile
Ah, the joys of printing on the art lab plotter. Actually, most of the problem or the reason it's taking a while anyways is because my files are so gosh derned huge. It's taking a while for all the data to get over to the printer, fun stuff.
I think I've managed to get my Internet disconnected. There was some miscommunication between me and my roommate, and I didn't send in the bill until almost a week after it was already due. Generally it's better to send payments a week BEFORE, but that's just silly. So now today, I'm not getting any signal. More fun stuff.
I hope my file prints (or at least finishes SENDING to the printer) before my Chemistry lab at 5, but I suppose I could be a little late if necessary.
I've been noticing that my mood has been rather volatile lately, well that's not the best word, but I keep getting knocked "off balance" real easily. I guess it's just stress, but I'm not competely sure if I act like "this" (vague, I know) even when I don't have much to worry about.
Friday was rather upsetting when I got my grade back from packaging (here's one of those things that gets me "off balance") and I got 79 on my damn "svelte" box. I thought I had done so well, and not to be stuck up or anything, but I thought my particular box looked quite a bit better than a lot of other classmates, and the few I've talked to said they got B's. I still need to write my prof an email or something (I don't think I can handle face-to-face for some reason right now) and ask WTF!? It's not like I blew it off, or half assed it, I put a lot of time and thought into that damn thing and I don't even get a damn B! Her (my prof, who isn't really a prof, but a grad student, but who has been in the biz for a while) explanation for my grade really didn't make sense to me either, and if it weren't for the fact that I've been "volatile" lately I would have spoken to her about it right away.
I don't know, just irks me a bit...if you couldn't tell.
I don't think I'm going to make to class on time, my file is only half sent. Which really blows. This is taking longer than I planned. Argh.
30% more to go, come on baby, you can do it twenty minutes, I know you can.
What else is there to complain about? Lets see, lets see. I've got too many things I've been complaining about that I really shouldn't. I'm fine really, just a little tired is all. School's great, the sink is a mess though (not my doing, I swear), and I haven't been able to give Boscoe as much attention as I would like.
You know, stuff and things. This, that and the other. All that jazz. The whole shabang (or is it she-bang?). Blah, blah, blah.
I think I'll be going soon. Talk to you peeps lay-ta.

Hard Driven Beliefs
Woohoo! My computer now kicks mucha ass-o-la. I believe I've (meaning my boy/manfriend) quadrupeled my RAM, added an external hard drive, got a snazzy new video card, and a cute little thumb drive to boot.
Now I'm set up to do all sorts of Photoshoppy goodness, that is if I can figure out how to do stuff in it. I kind of snoozed during that part of my "Computers in Art" class, and up until now I've only really been using Illustrator.
All my new stuff is quite exciting, it's almost like getting a new computer, but really much better in a lot of ways. Plus, since my manfriend "is the man," he's helping me out with paying for all this, because otherwise I don't think I would have bothered trying.
Enough about today, yesterday was pretty fun too. I cleaned and organized my room (a vast improvent) and I even vacuumed. The vacuuming is something I will have to do quite regularly though since I got Boscoe now, he's quite messy.
I made a red velvet cake as well (Duncan Hines mix, hard to screw up), but I had a mixing malfunction and since red velvet cake really is really red, it about looked like there was a murder in the kitchen and I was desperately trying to cover it up.
...Yeah, just "looked" like a murder, that's right...
Anyways, later, while I was playing a video game (shocking, I know), and Boscoe was continuing to destroy the pencil he started on the other day, some Morman's dropped by. Quite exciting, the first time I've had Morman's come to MY DOOR! And since I didn't look through the peephole (they were two girls anyways, in not obvious Morman attire) I started talking to them, well, they did all the talking really and asked me what I thought periodically.
"How do I feel about Jesus Christ? Our Father? about the various prophets?" Which generally got a blank stare and a shoulder shrug from me. I usually stay out of conversations on religion and politics because it generally just becomes a shouting match between people determined that their belief is right and everyone should think the same way as they do about it, which is stupid in my opinion, but I wouldn't say that out loud. Except for here of course, cause this is my own damn blog and...whatever.
The missionaries were interesting to listen to though, their theories and beliefs were a little too literal for my taste though. I think any religion is worthwhile if it makes you feel better about your life and helps you help others. Plus these girls weren't shoving their beliefs down my throat trying to force feed it to me, they were just talking about how it had helped them and that they thought it could help others, so I was intrigued to listen. Plus, when I said something about what I thought they didn't dismiss it, they were just curious. Quite pleasant really, though it did get boring after a time.
I don't know, but I think I should head to bed now, I need to get up at 7. Ick.

Boscoe the Chewer
Yay! I'm done with my research-o-la. Which is shway cool because then that means I can go to bed soon. Hip hip hoorah.
Boscoe has now gone to happily chewing apart one of my pencils. I think he's "teething" essentially, or strengthening his beak since birds don't have teeth. It was quite entertaining to have him roam around me while I was trying to think up crap metaphors and forced connections and the like for my research. Apparently we have "revised" research due next class period, but that shouldn't be too bad, I just need to put together a couple of visual boards mostly. Fun fun.
I have to do my final prints tomorrow for my photography class. I would have liked to get them finished today, but read above, research was needed to be done. I honestly thought I might end up staying up much later than this, and I was able to take plenty of brain breaks so it wasn't all that bad.
My computer is really starting to frustrate me. I knew it never had much ram, but now that I really need to use Photoshop and am using really BIG images, my computer just...can't do anything. So I think by this weekend I'm going to invest on some new hardware for my computer so it come up to speed...hopefully.
Well, I suppose I should go to bed, I don't want to not get enough sleep and then get sick again...cause that would blow.

Ass Hat
So...I had an interesting chem lab earlier. Our usually not unpleasant TA (some lady from Romania with a cool accent) wasn't there and was replaced with a small incredibly rude Indian dude with an accent too thick that it took a while to decipher what he was yelling at us about. I don't know if anyone had informed him that we're the "non-majors" class, meaning people like me (art majors and other non-sciency majors) who are pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff because we haven't done anything chemistry related since highschool and we don't really care if we learn much of anything, we just need a decent grade to get the credit.
I don't know, I guess you had to be there, but trust me, he was an ass. Or better yet an assHAT (I'm not even sure what that means, but it sounds appropriate). I guess common courtesy was lost to this dude, I know it's not a cultural thing, (sometimes people who are speaking a second language can sound more harsh just because they don't know all the subtleties intuitively, but this guy was just rude for no good reason) this guy would probably be even worse if he had a greater grasp of the english language. At least this way you can really pretend you don't know what he said, you know, without really pretending.
I hope Romanian Chick is back next week, she's kind of hard to understand too, but she's very nice. Nice is good. Rude is bad. That's the lesson for today.
I guess I'll get to finishing up my research for Bayou Magic, as long as I don't get too stuck I should be fine. Adios.

Pictures of a Wolf
...and I bought my camera at Wolf Camera! That's kind of funny right?
This is my friend's pretty wolf/puppy/dog pet who thinks he's a person and is very photogenic. I'm glad these came out so well, I'm really liking my black and white photography class.
I'm going to eat some ego waffles now. Only one class today! and no work! YAY!

Sickening
So...I was going to post some pretty pictures that I developed today, but seeing as there is a problem trying to connect to my webhost thingy it won't be happening right now. Oh well, I'm just really happy on how well these photos came out, a three hours well spent in the dark room.
Oh yes, it is official, I am sick. Not just sort of sick, and I think it's too late to "rest and eat well" to keep if from going its course. Like I have the time to rest and eat well even if I tried.
I am going to go to bed very soon, I was hoping to get more research done, but I'm too tired for that. I don't have to work tomorrow so that should help me out in getting everything I need done this weekend and help me not get too sick. As long as I don't get tonsilitus (or mono or something) I shouldn't be too bad, though I do feel tonsils/glands swelling a bit. Bleh.
I'll try to keep everyone appraised of my ever-so-exciting sickliness. You know, so no one feels left out from my bitchings I'll be doing to people who can actually physically interact with me and call me on the phone. I want to make sure as many people feel sorry for me as possible.
PITY ME! for I am a sickening Missy.
Bleh.

Bayou Magic
For those of you who click on Bayou Magic, have no fear because I get to treat this company as though it is completely new. Which MEANS, I don't have to use the crap they've already thought up. I can even change the name if I want, but I think I'll just change the logo design because *shudder* it's atrocious as it stands right now. Oh joy. Well, maybe I'll actually DO something now. Bye.
Sick 'n Tired
I must be getting sick because I'm exhausted and I have done very little today. I don't really feel that "bad" just tired and I got lots of crap to do. Like memorize all the info for my graphic design quiz tomorrow, which I've barely looked at cause each time I do I groan and put back in my notebook.
I'm too tired right now to retain much information, maybe I'll make flash cards or something at least. I don't know...something. I have to do another "20 step" research thing for my client in 3D Graphic Design, Bayou Magic (great website, really).
Just tired and don't want to have to do these things, but I do have to do them so I will, just not with much enthusiasm. Anyways, hope no one else is getting sick, because it really puts a crimp in productivity.

Not Much to Report
I'm quite sleepy, and I really don't want to do much of any work right now. So, I think I'll probably head to bed soon instead. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Uh...I guess I haven't written in a little while, but I can't think of a whole lot that I want to talk about. Like I said, quite sleepy. Boscoe was content with just hanging out with me earlier, usually he doesn't really seem to want me to bother him, but I think he's getting more and more used to me. He didn't even poop on me, always a plus.
I feel a lot better about my advertising project now that I've settled on using found images I don't have to worry about a photographer and such. I kind of need to use found imagery because I want to have famous athletes (well proper uniforms anyways) and singers and whatnot in my ads and I obviously am not able to get them for a photo shoot I'll just have to do some digging. I'll be spending quite a bit of time in the Resource Library looking for (and then deciding, which will probably take me more time than it will to find the pictures) and scanning in pretty pictures.
I don't feel very interesting right now so I'm going to hit the sack. Night all.

Random Quote of the Day
When Vin Diesel reaches a difficult point in his life, he often stops and wonders, "What Would Godzilla Do?" As the answer invariably is that Godzilla would devour a schoolbus full of Japanese children, whatever Vin does seems pretty OK by comparison.
Duality Duel
I'm not even sure what I want to talk about. I'm kind of starting to fall asleep on my feet, or my ass technically.
I think I'm starting to be able to accept and get my head around what I need to do for advertising. I've been worrying about it all week, and I still had to get lots of other stuff done (make "svelte" boxes, take and develop pictures (very time consuming, though not that hard) and remember to eat and stuff). I've been so easily upset lately too, not much fun for me or anyone having to deal with me. I'm still a little off balance, and fairly emotional under normal circumstances anyways, but I'm getting used to this now.
I understand LOGICALLY what I need to do and I'm capable of getting everything done that I need to get done, and do it well, but then EMOTIANALLY I mentally scream (AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! How in the hell am I going to get all this done!). It's very difficult for me to get Emotional Missy to listen to Rational Missy, and Emotional Missy has a hard time keeping herself hidden no matter how hard Rational Missy tries. It's a crazy duality that frustates both Missy's quite a bit.
I did get to hear my manfriend play some big band tonight which really helped me get out of my little slump of just holing up in my room hoping I get stuff done. Amazingly enough I actually got some work done while listening to the big band stuff.
Hmm...I need to ask him when I'm getting for having designed that flier for him. Note to self: ask for money...or something to that effect.
I hope you all like the photos I posted, I just printed those today. That took up about 3 hours developing the film and then printing off several images.
Wow, I think my poor excuse for a work schedule might even start to become a burden on me having enough time to get all my class work done. Those are the kind of thoughts that start to freak Emotianal Missy out. I can and will get it done though.
This semester is going to FLY by.

Svelte
Well I've finished my first "svelte" box, and I have to say it looks pretty darn good. My packaging prof wants us to at least try two different iterations of our word, but we're only REQUIRED to have ONE. So I thought I give myself all of today to get one done really nicely, and tomorrow I'll try and do another one.
I was supposed to take a roll of pictures today and develop it, but it lost priority over the box, and I've got a couple of weeks for this project. As long as I don't completely forget about it I should be fine. So yeah, I'm supposed to make prints tomorrow, but seeing as I don't have any processed negatives to work with that won't be happening. I suppose I'll just sit in class doing other stuff so I don't get an absence.
I really hate the fact that art classes start to dock your grade after two absences, a little annoying.
I should start working out my rough drafts for body copy, or at least read the hand out my advertising prof gave us. I don't know, do something. I'm still so glad my box came together as nicely as it did with very few troubles. I have a feeling I may run on short supply of those kind of experiences this semester.
Back to the ol' grind.

I Like Naps
So um....I decided to take a nap at about 7 and then slept till 11 and am now going to go back to sleep in short order at close to 2 in the morning. I had planned on working on my packaging assignment, but seeing as I've wasted away my night that didn't happen.
That was a great nap though, I didn't want to take one earlier today because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get up again for my afternoon classes. The only reason I got up at 11 was cause my roommate checked in on me because I still had my door open and stuff. Naps are quite awesome though, even when they cease to really be naps anymore.
Anyways, I suppose I'll head back to bed now, and hopefully I'll be awake enough tomorrow to really accomplish something and not just wander around half asleep. Night.

Wake Unto Thee
So I just have woken up and I remember dreaming (which I very rarely do) about...I guess it was a TV show or something. Something that might be on TLC or the Discovery channel (maybe I'll pitch the idea to them) about this group of blue collar workers exploring and visiting not so blue collar jobs (the looked like maybe they were mechanics or something). I'm not sure why I was involved in this, it seemed like I was just watching, but also there, it's a dream so...yeah. The only place I remember them going is an astronaut or fighter pilot training place. And everyone had to try the g-force thingy (you know, you get strapped in and spin around in circles till you pass out? Fun stuff.) I don't know, mostly it was confusing and weird like most of my dream (and thoughts are).
Now if you look at the time that I'm posting this you may wonder why I'm up so gosh derned early. I'm picking up my bf from the airport at "way-too-early" and I also have to take him back to the airport later today. One of those far away gigs, but also a close gig and instead of driving back and forth without sleep he's gotten a cheap plane ticket (REALLY!) and I play choeffer for the day. Not too bad though because I get to go to the ballet (never been to a ballet before) and...I don't know, do something other than homework today.
Oh yes, I must tell you! Boscoe is doing so much better now, I think yesterday was the turning point for him and now he's actually eating and being much more active and generally more comfortable in his cage and around me. He can also chirp pretty damn loud if he wants, but hopefully that won't be a CONSTANT thing. I know he's a bird and that's what birds do, but if he starts "screaming" and not just singing idly then something's wrong. I'm still keeping a close eye on how much he's been eating though, but I think he's doing good now.
Better get ready to leave soon. Hope everyone's weekend goes swimmingly.
