Shit Head Bird

So I've been able to get the bird to eat some, but I still don't think he's been eating enough. I've decided I'll take him to the pet store tomorrow so they can check him out and they can tell me if I'm overreacting or really do need keep an eye on how he's eating. I went by today to see if they had any suggestions to help him eat more and they said I could bring him by just to make sure he looks okay. I've never had a cockatiel before so I don't know WHAT to look for, but I've had parakeets before and I know he should be eating quite a bit more.

Hopefully nothing too dramatic will happen with that. I just want to be a good mommy and make sure he sticks around for a while. Boscoe's a shit head though, he knows where his food is and he'll stand ON the dish, but won't eat unless I stir the seed around or something. Then he'll two bites, sit there, NOT eating, and then I'll stir around the seed again and he'll eat a few more bites....lather, rinse, repeat.

I guess I haven't been eating so good myself either, but I keep telling him to do as I say not as I do. He doesn't seem to be listening. Yes, I have conversations with the bird. Well, more like thinking out loud, but pretending he understands. I'm not really crazy, I just act like it at times.

I better get some thumbnails done. Yippie.

Ghost Image

I've been wanting to post this for a while, but until RIGHT now my Internet hasn't been working fast enough. I believe this is my favorite pinhole picture I've taken so far, even if it is drastically underexposed. Posted by Picasa

Power Up

Amazing how a thunderstorm and a power outage can actually make my Internet work at a good speed. I'm quite sure it won't stay this way though, alas.

Random Quote of the Day

I like birds.

Boscoe the Magnificent!

I have named my bird! and he will now be known as Boscoe the Magnificent! or maybe just Boscoe. I will be heading back home shortly to make sure he's doing okay. He didn't eat at all yesterday except when I coaxed him eating a little from my hand. I hope this doesn't last long, I don't need a starving bird on my hands. I suppose he's just unsettled yet and it will take a bit of time for him to get used to his new surroundings.

It sure is nice to have something to care of again though. I was excited at the beginning of the semester that my roommate was going to have her kittens around, but now that she has hit some unexpected problems she isn't around and consequentially neither are the kittens.

Plus, Boscoe has been TOO quiet for my ease of mind, he chirped a real little bit when I put on some music, but it didn't last long. So right now he's a far cry from how noisy my parakeets have been. I don't want him chirping ALL the time, but if he's not singing it generally means he isn't very happy. Hopefully today will be better.

Random Quote of the Day

Madness is the gift that has been given to me.

No Love

Okay, so I didn't get a lovebird, BUT I did get a cockatiel, which I still have to name. He's quite cute though and very tame and he will be my friend.

Pet Project

So I've decided (and it has passed roommate approval) to get a pet. A pet bird to be exact. A love bird to be even more exact. I was thinking about getting a cat or something, but because of recent car breakdowns I don't want to even try to pay the $500 pet deposit at my apartment. While I could just NOT pay it I'd feel bad and it would probably come back to bite me in the ass anyways.

Yeah, I was in a little pet store yesterday and there were all these friendly cockatiels and parakeets and expensive parrots and whatnot. I kind of thought about getting another iguana (I've had a couple in the past) but I would really like something more personable. Parakeets are really pretty loud and cockatiels too, but lovebirds are a bit more subdued, so if my roommate (or myself) wants to take a nap we won't get too much squawking.

I would really like a cat (a dog is really out of the question, that would require more time than I have available) but with the pet deposit thing, the bird idea has won out. I also think I'd be able to bond with the bird more if he's my ONLY pet. I've had parakeets, but I also had cats, and cats don't need as much work to get used to people. Plus he'll be pretty and can talk to me while I'm doing homework, and other than the initial cost of buying him and the cage would be very affordable to maintain.

The pros most definitately outweigh the cons and I'm certain I can give the bird enough attention to keep him happy and social enough.

Isn't this exciting! I'm going to get MY first pet, one that will only belong to ME, not one I have to leave with my parents, one that can stay with me for as long as it's able. Someday I'll get a kitty too, but for now the bird will help me out a lot.

Now off I go to do errands.

Mi La He

Here's a site a friend of mine has blessed upon me, I will simply call it "Mi la he". It's quite beautiful and is fantabulously silly. I'm going to have that song stuck in my head forever. FOR-EV-VER!

Anyways, I need to take off if I'm wanting to get back to Denton at a reasonable time. Eight o'clock classes are growing quite old very quickly. IT'S ALREADY BEEN A MONTH! of school. This year will pass by rather quickly I'm afraid. I'm quite sick of headlines though, and I've still got more to do before tomorrow.

I did buy a kickass camera yesterday. It kicks much ass. For $230 it should, but it's a worthy investment, maybe I'll ask for a digital camera for Christmas and then I'll be set. Too bad my dad's camera didn't work though, I really like older more classic things (my old car, and a certain someone...) No pun intended. Okay, the pun is intended, whatever that pun may be.

Wow, having that site playing in the background is making my day so much better. I think I'll survive the night of thinking up more crap headlines. Back to the grindstone I guess. BUT FIRST, I'll drive for an hour.

I hope the radio has some good music for me tonight. Happy work/school week to all.

Hardly Workin'

I hardly worked at all today. I don't think 2 hours even counts as "work." I think I'm kind of getting squeezed out of Friday's schedule, because even if I go, while I do make my hourly wage (which is crap) I won't make any tips because there's so many drivers. Which, in turn, means I don't take as many runs, ergo less money for mwa.

I guess not having to work Friday's though won't hurt me too bad, maybe I'll actually develop a social life. HAH! Even when I have the time I hate parties, small get-togethers are nice, but not parties. Also, I always feel like I'm almost inviting myself a lot of times. I tend to kind of keep myself "apart" somehow from most of the people in my classes and at work. Not that I'm unfriendly or anything, but I guess it comes off to other people fairly clearly that I'm not all that out-going, and I don't get invited to things. And, like I said, even if I hear about a "party" or whatnot, I feel like I'm inviting myself over if I ask about or something.

For some reason I don't feel like I can ever fit in with any real niche or clique, I've never kept many really close friends. Sure there's people I "know," but the only real common interest I have with most of them (especially now) is that we're all Comm. Design majors. I highschool it was swimming, I never did anything outside of swimming related activities with anyone.

Why am I even talking about this? I suppose its something I'd like to change about myself. A lot of times I'm really bad at keeping in touch with friends, I forget, I'm tired, or just think they wouldn't really want to spend the time with me (read above, "I feel like I'm inviting myself over").

I'm having a hard enough time not feeling like that with my sibs let alone friends. A lot of times I still feel like I'm, well "tolerated" isn't quite the right word, but something akin to that. I don't feel depressed about it or anything, but I think I'd enjoy school more if I just "let loose" a bit and made an effort to not be a homebody ALL the time. Not that I want to crazy or anything, but I don't know, something.

Okay, change of subject, I am SO glad my family doesn't live on the coast. I've heard so many classmates talk about their family and friends trying to get out of Rita's path or attempting to hunker down as best they can. I've heard so many people complain about El Paso, but the lack of weather there makes it seem very appealing as of late. El Paso may dry up some day, but at least it won't get destroyed all of a sudden. And the levies have already been breached in New Orleans again. This does not bode well.

I feel silly when I'm worrying and stressing about how to think up 50 more headline revisions and things like this are happening just hundreds of miles away. Amazing really. I only hope we can escape from all this devastation without too much long term damage, and I can only pray that most will survive and will return to their normal lives in the near future.

Introspective time over, I'm going to take a shower now and eat a little something. Everyone try to stay safe and happy.

Spare Moment

Oh how I wish I could update from my own computer. I'm frustrated greatly with the Internet as of late and I think my roommate and I are going to switch to DSL if this doesn't get resolved soon. Stupid charter.

Anyways, I'm actually SUPPOSED to be in class right now but I stopped by the computer lab to do some type selection for my next project. Fun stuff. I have to make a 3D container that embodies and projects the word "svelte" which is a cool word, and hopefully I can pull off something cool.

I guess I better going back to class, don't have too much longer to go. Plus, I need to do 50 more headlines for tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Visuals

Good lordy I'm tired. I am happy to say I finished my visual research stuff and I should try and work on some headlines...but that may not happen. I'll probably being doing most of those on Tuesday since tomorrow is my really busy class day.

I think I'm doing okay homework wise now even though my car set me back a bit and I had to work all day today. I did make good tips though, so that's something, help pay off my car a bit at least.

I should have gotten film and some batteries for my camera, but I never got around to it. I don't really need that stuff until Wednesday though, so it'll be fine. I've got my pinhole assignment due tomorrow (all those creepy pictures I posted) so I need to decide on two that I think look the "coolest." I mean there's aesthetics involved in choosing and if there's interesting content, but mostly its just what I THINK is cool. Not like my advertising class where it actually has to communicate something and hopefully get the audience to DO something.

So yeah, I'm going to headline or sleep now. School's great.

Random Quote of the Day

Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny.

Wanna Switch?

My car's a piece a crap, you want to trade right? I love my car I really do, except for when it breaks down. THEN it becomes a big royal pain in the ass. Yes, my car has broken down AGAIN. This time my alternator crapped out, and there wasn't anyone I knew around too close to help even start my car, I was about to stand outside with some jumper cables and a sign pleeing for help.

But THEN my dad helped me realize I could PUSH START my car. Since it is a standard and all, and while I wouldn't have really been able to push it I WAS parked on a steep enough incline where I could let my car ROLL and let out the clutch and then go "vroom, vroom." Which I did, and was quite proud of myself for being able to start my car that way without a hitch.

I guess I could have just found hills to park on all the time and not gotten my car fixed, that could have been fun, but I opted for the fixing and the paying of mucho dinero. Not as much money as my last "fixin'" but enough. Enough where if this happens yet again, I might have to take out another loan or something, because I'm already going to be counting my pennies enough as it is.

Le sigh, at least one of my siblings was around to help get "unstranded" I was quite distressed for some time thinking I'd be stuck at Pep Boys for four hours or more ESPECIALLY when today I planned to get crackin' on my homework. I did get some stuff done, but not near as much as I was planning on today. So it goes.

All I wanted to do is run some errands, but no, my car hates me for some reason, or maybe its just old and crochety. Who knows, I sure as hell don't. I just really hope I can wait AT LEAST a year before having to shell out more bucks to get my car fixed. I think I've got about everything replaced on it now, well, not really, but let's pretend.

So now I think I'm going to try and do some more homework before I pass out, and I should probably eat something soon. Actually, that might be the reason I have this headache and feel really, REALLY sleepy. I also kind of reek, maybe I should shower first, hopefully that will REinvigerate me and not just make me sleepier.

Laters.

Cause Thinking Up Shit is Hard to Do.

Thinking up headlines is hard work. I've got 40 done now though, so that's good, I didn't realize I had gotten that many until just now and its a good feeling.

I've been rather mopey lately, complaining about ALL of the homework I have to do. Which I do have a lot, but complaining isn't going to make it go away (if it did though I'd be done before I started). This isn't a good sign if I already feel sort of burnt out, not a good sign at all. I'm sure I'll be fine, I think its just taking me a while to get into the groove of things.

If only I could keep my focus...that's generally what brings me down. I'll do good for a while and then I start reading and looking up stuff on the Internet, or just doing nothing (I mean literally nothing. Staring off into space kind of stuff.) Its a good thing I don't have cable otherwise I could very easily get sucked into that blackhole and spiral ever downward in my focus.

Anyways, I think I'm going look over some vocabulary words that I'm going to get quizzed on in Thursday's lecture. Go History of Graphic Design.

Peace out.

Think Up Your Own Damn Headline

I should be thinking up headlines right now...but I can't get into the right mode it seems. Everything I think up sounds retarded and not very imaginative. This is a good start to thinking up 125 by Friday. yay.

Uh...my room's kind of trashed right now, clothes mostly. I'm not really sure why I'm sharing that info, I'm just writing whatever filth spues forth from my brain. I think I'm killing my little ivy plant, I never have my blinds open and now I think I've over-watered it. Maybe if I get it some sunlight for a few days it'll perk up. I'm not very good with plants.

I shouldn't even be up anymore, I'm tired and should go to bed. That's what I SHOULD do. Ah, the age old argument, to go to bed or to waste time. I'm too tired to be funny. I'm gonna eat some yogurt now.

Andale Pues

Wow, the Internet so much more fun when it cooperates. I've finally finished my research which is very nice and means I can go to bed shortly.

I had a long day at work, but at least at Domino's I don't have to start to early, I'll be doing that enough during the week. There was this bitchy ass lady that I delivered too, which put a crimp in my otherwise uneventful day. Very terse and kind of slutty looking, she answered the door while smoking a cigarette which she then shortly flung out the door very near me, quite rude. "Quando es?" (how much?) "Uh...$15.92" she hands me $16.00, therefor no tip. I proceed to take her pizza out of the heatwave bag and she says, "Andale pues." (hurry up. HURRY UP! You don't give me a tip and you tell me to HURRY UP! You ordered this goddamn pizza and now your acting as though I'm impeding on your busy-ass schedule when I've COME TO YOUR DOOR WITH FOOD! I think that's actually pretty damn convenient and you're telling me to hurry up! I shouldn't damn well hurry up for your skanky ass, why don't you try being nice just for the sake of being nice and not putting undue stress on already stressed out college students having to do involved research projects. I'll glare you down bitch, turn you into stone.) and I gave her her pizza and after she closed the door I allow myself to say "bitch" under my breath. I've never wanted to slap someone so much.

ANYWAYS...I guess I'll go to bed now since I've got Photography at eight tomorrow morn. Hope everyone's night is just swell...well everyone except that bitchy customer I hope she gets insomnia and has to work an 18 hour shift tomorrow or something...but I'll be fine as long as I don't have to deliver to her again.

G'night.

Forcing Inspiration

So...I still need to finish up my research for StubHub.com which is quite an exciting endeavor (insert sarcasm). I don't have a whole lot left to do, I really don't want to do it though, it's actually gotten me quite depressed today. Well, that and then I didn't eat a solid meal until recently, lack of food makes me grumpy.

I'm better now though, got some good Chinese food, it's all good. I'm thinking I may end up switching rooms in my apartment if my roommate ends up having to move out, which seems very likely at this point. She has the master bedroom and was going to pay more for rent and if we want to try and find a different roommate to take over her part of the lease it would be easier to market the cheaper price. I mean we could just split the rent evenly, but since it really wouldn't be fair for the person with the big room to pay just as much as the people with the small rooms I don't think that's the best idea. I don't know, just a thought. A thought that doesn't involve thinking about an advertising campaign.

Just a few more ideas to come up with, I can do it. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... If it weren't for the fact that I work all day tomorrow I wouldn't worry about it anymore tonight, but since I do, I don't want to have to worry about it all tomorrow. It would be nice to have it finished, but that's easier said than done.

My brain only works effectively for so long. After a while I have to take a break, otherwise it feels like I'm banging my head against a wall trying to force valid ideas out of it. It gets pretty hard towards the end of what's assigned too, it's hard to think that there's still something you haven't thought of, which there always is. There's always so many solutions that can be derived, some are better than others, a lot are about the same and depending on how well they're executed all could be good, perhaps great, campaigns.

Decisions, decisions...well, not yet really, I'll really get to decide later. Right now I need to think up more options. So yeah, I guess I should get to work again, or not. Whatever comes to me.

Nighty Night

I have a dream...a dream that I'll be dreaming in 5 minutes.

Okay, maybe not DREAMING in 5 minutes but in bed, all snuggled up and comfy in my nice bed. This may be the only time I get to bed by ten all semester so I will relish and enjoy this very special moment in great deep slumber.

Goodnight all.

(With my luck I will now be cursed with insomnia, just you watch.)

Wolfenstein

Oh, what to do what to do. This morning my friend's wolf (yes, I said wolf, he was staying here because....well, that's another long story I don't feel up to sharing) decided to crap all down our hallway eat some garbage and destroy some blinds.

I wasn't around to actually "see" it happening, but I did see the aftermath which was quite impressive. Wolfy did manage to intimidate my other roommate (the one who doesn't own said wolf) because...well because he's a wolf and when growls and bares his teeth it kind of scares the crap out of you.

Cat's are easily managable, DOGs are manageable, wolves? Not so much. There's limited housing for the wolf and my roommate has few options, but me and roomie 2 can't really deal with him. Hopefully everything will smooth over, but for the time being we get to take care of two cute (but obnoxious) kitties. Kitties that don't growl or bite or snap at you.

So now I'm just procrastinating a bit on some homework, I left my assignment sheet at my bf's yesterday, so I'm going to have to ask him to look for some specifics for me until I can retrieve said assignment sheet from him.

I have to find an ad campaign with 3 ads within the campaign (something akin to "Got Milk?" that's an ad campaign by-the-way). So now I've found three poorly designed advertisements BUT they are campaign...just not a very good one.

Oh, and if you all can't tell, I now have Internet in my apartment and I'm enjoying my long lost friend, the World Wide Web.

I'll go finish up some laundry and get food or something and maybe actually finish up on my homework that's due tomorrow.

Adios.

World News

It wasn't until last night that I truly understood the magnitude of what's happening in New Orleans. I have't had TV or Internet or even a newspaper to know much about what's going on in the world. My boyfriend told me just what was going on, New Orleans has been DESTROYED since I've moved into my apartment. Destroyed. It's amazing, I still can't really get my head around it. If I could watch the news I'd be balling, SO MANY PEOPLE have lost homes, friends, family...their lives.

The tsunamis were horrible, but it seems to sink in more when it happens so close to home. I wouldn't have to fly or take a boat to New Orleans, I could get in my car right now and drive about 6 or 7 hours and be there.

I get so caught up in my own little world, with all my wants and needs and all I can do is pray that I'm never pulled into a situation that's as catastrophic as what's going on.

May life smile on you and give you the strength needed to be happy and free from pain.
