Somebody set up us the bomb.

All Mad

Okay, so I just got done playing the nerdiest video game I own (I realize that sounds a little repetitive, but whatever) which is "Mad Maestro!" The game where you conduct classical pieces of music, which is really quite fun and much better than that stupid Marvel game I bought a couple weeks ago. The game is really cheesy and some of the titles of music are translated a little weird though it's no competition for All Your Base, but nothing can compare to the ingeniousness of All Your Base. Ah, that makes me laugh so.

So I should be doing homework of some kind, but I'm still kind of in vacation mode, which means I have no motivation to do school work. I'll go to "real" work, but I really can't stand homework right now. Oh well, only 3 more weeks left and then it's Christmas Break (or Winter Break if you want to be politically correct). I don't really care what it's called, it's a month away from doing school stuff and that's all that really matters to me.

I'm pretty sleepy now, so I think I'll close here and get ready for bed, because I'm not going to get to sleep 12 hours a night 3 consecutive nights in a row for a while yet. Nighty night.

Back to Life

So I fell off the edge of the world for a while in an oh' so blissful sleep. Yes, that's pretty much how I spent my Thanksgiving weekend, in bed...asleep, and I give many thanks for that. I also give many thanks to how cool this Johnny Cash CD is, "American IV: The Man Comes Around." I think it would be cool to go see that movie on him too.

It was nice to have a quiet dinner with my boyfriend, together time has been lacking lately because of the free time we do have is generally not at the SAME time.

...and now I'm being distracted by split ends in my hair, I guess do need a haircut.

I also did a little bit of Christmas shopping, a rather insane thing to do on Thanksgiving weekend, but it's not really going to get any better until after Christmas. Which, I suppose I could wait, because my family usually can only get together until after Christmas Day. I pretty sure that's what it's going to be like this year. Maybe someday I'll be able to win Christmas, but that won't be until I don't have to be so frugal in my gift shopping.

So...last day delivering pizzas today, though my manager said that if I ever wanted to make some extra money to just ask if they need somebody extra for a week or so (which they usually do) to feel free and ask. Since I already know how to do the job and everything, so that was kind of cool. Especially since I might need that extra money during Christmas.

I'm really starting to get a little burnt out with Communication Design, especially packaging. I don't think my TA likes me much, she doesn't seem to get my humor as well as others, takes me a little too seriously when I'm being sarcastic. Not to mention I really have no clue on what kind of grade I'm going to get on my "Bayou Magic."

I was also planning on doing some changes on my "Big Red" billboards, but the only reasons for doing that is if I want to put in competition, which isn't until after Christmas...so I'll worry about it later.

NOW, I need to go look for my checkbook so I can pay the utilities. Sweet.

We must asses the situation.

Almost Break Time!

So, I'll be leaving shortly for my first day at my brand-spanking-new job-o-la. This will be a nice easy week to start off since Thurs. and Fri. are out because of Thanksgiving, when I'll be sleeping my ass off. Sleep will be very nice.

I've gotten my billboard designs printed off, so that's a load off. I get to mount them after work, yay. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, it was pretty fun to design them the way I did.

Boscoe is intent on destroying my mouse pad, he just bit into really well right now. Jeeze birdy, he has to chew on EVERYTHING. I'm quite sleepy, but I should be able to get some decent rest tonight, unless I end up watching a movie or something, which wouldn't be all bad. Haven't had any "sittin' around" time the past week. It's nice to just "sit around" and not do stuff and not have BIG RED floatin' around in my head.

I suppose I'll head out now. I told the guy I'd be at work by one so I better not be late. Toodles.

I've Got Too Many Other Things to do to Bother With Witty Titles

Ah, the calm before the storm...or is it after? actually it's more like "in-between." I have had a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very (get the idea?), very busy week. Two big projects were due yesterday and because of those two big projects I haven't had as much time to work on my very big project which is due next week. I'm not nearly as far along on that as I'd like to be.

Also on top of that, my family is having Thanksgiving tomorrow essentially because that's just how it worked out where we could actually all SEE each other. At the same time. As a family. And eating and stuff. Everybody (except me) did get together tonight, but I've been so busy and so, SO TIRED (I can't remember being this tired, I've been having a hard time focusing just because I'm tired, not because I'm being easily distracted like usual) I didn't want to get stuck getting a crappy night's sleep, being AWAY from my computer (which I NEED to do all my projects) and then getting even farther behind on work and not even catching up on sleep.

Okay, so enough complaining, I'm REALLY happy my mom was able to come stay with me for yesterday and most of today. Plus, she brought our doggy Fred, whom everyone loves because he's cute and very nice and looks like a little black sheep with all his curly fur. I miss having lots of pets, but I have a hard enough time giving Boscoe enough attention. Someday I'll get my menagerie of pets built up again. I have to get a job and a place with a yard first though, but that'll come in time.

I wish I could get more work done tonight, but I think I need to sleep first before I can really be productive. I just have too many things to do. So as long as I don't sleep in too late tomorrow I can get some work done before going to my early Thanksgiving thingy with the fam. Should be fun. Would be a lot MORE fun if I didn't have so much to worry about though. I guess I'll get a real break next weekend though and how sweet that will be.

I'm off to an early bed and hopefully not too late morning. Night night.

Can't find a better man.

Nemesis

Okay, so "Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects" has to be one of the worst games I've ever bought. Why'd I buy it? I thought it looked cool, I thought the premise was cool, but in reality it sucks pretty hard and I'm an idiot for buying it. But you know what? I'm still determined to beat it. Why? See above, idiot. And why am I playing games when I have so much crap to do? Again, idiot.

I do confess, my idiocy is true and blue, or whatever color represents idiocy to you. Despite that (my idiocy I mean), I've still gotten quite a bit done today, I just have random bits of idiocy thrown in the midst. I think I'm done with my Bayou Magic crap (I'll look at it again to see if I want any other changes before putting it all together), got my timeline printed out, met a potential future roommate, uh...made a typeface...sorta (look up Constructivism, blocky letters, not too difficult to recreate), and didn't clean up my room. Oh wait, that's kind of a bad thing.

So...exciting huh? I know I'm excited. I can barely CONTAIN my excitement. It's ready to burst out at some unsuspecting individual all excited-like and crap. That's me, Ms. Excitement. Excitin' the day away with all sorts of exciting activities.

I'm glad the semester's almost over.

EXCITING!

Bring it on, Big Show!

Weak Week

Man, I'm quite tired. Stressors from school are starting to reach a new high, and social life is down to zero. Not that I had much of one anyways, just been particularly lonely lately.

I got my stupid timeline done for Graphic Design History which is nice, now I just got to get it printed and mount it. I'm about done on my product design, which is nice, except I have some intricate cutting to do on those things, so that might get a little painstaking.

Ugh, I should just go to bed. I'm not going to get anything else done tonight. Oh yes, my phone number will be changing. My parents just switched cell phone companies but I have to change my number so it can be their area code. I'll send out emails and call people and stuff, it won't change until I cancel my old number. I should just get my own plan, but I think my parents want to help me out a little bit at least.

I am excited about my mom coming up to visit me and she's actually going to stay at "my place" because I don't live in a shitty ass dorm anymore. Only downside to that is I have REALLY clean now, not just kick my pile of clothes farther into the corner and maybe actually vacuum (I need to do that anyways, Boscoe's a messy bird).

Got me a new (new to me at least) Pearl Jam CD and a not so great video game (bastards who make sub-par games but suck me in by putting in Marvel characters and making a flashy cover (stuff I could be designing some day) and make me spend my wad o' cash). Oh well, maybe I won't get one of those "buying" impulses again for some time.

Okay, now it's really time to go to bed. Night all.

SFX: Shop door with bell, opening and closing

Customer (clearly and idiot): Morning, squire.

Clerk (Patient and wise): Morning, sire.

Customer: I'd like a videocaster, please.

Clerk: A video recorder. Any one in particular?

Customer: Well, I'd like to have some specifications...

Clerk: Yes?

Customer:...and functions. I must have some functions.

Clerk: I see. Did you have any model in mind?

Customer: Well, a friend mentioned the Airee-Keeri-Kabuki-uh-Kasumi-uh watchamacallit. You know, the Japanese one, the 2000. 'Cause I'm very technically minded, you see.

Clerk: I can see that.

Customer: So I want mine with all the little bits on it. All the Japanese bits. You know, the 2000.

Clerk: What system?

Customer: Uh, uh, well, electrical I think, because I'd like to be able to plug it into the television. You see, I've got a Japanese television.

Clerk: Have you?

Customer: Yeah, I thought you'd be impressed. Yeah, the 2000, the Oki-Koki 2000.

Clerk: Well, sire, there is this model.

Customer: Yeah, looks smart, yeah.

Clerk: Eight hours per cassette, all the functions that the others have, and I know this will be of interest. A lot of scientific research has gone into making it easy to operate...

Customer: Good, yeah.

Clerk:...even by a complete idiot like you.

Customer: Pardon?

Clerk: It's a Phillips.

Customer: Doesn't sound very Japanese.

Clerk: No, a Phirrips. I mean, a Phirrips. It's a Phirrips.

Customer: Yeah, it's a 2000, is it?

Clerk: Oh, in fact it's the 2022.

Customer: Hmmmm...no. Hasn't got enough knobs on it. Nope. What's that one over there?

Clerk: That's a washing machine.

Customer: Yeah? What? It's a Japanese? (Fade-out)

Anncr Vo: The VR 2022. Video you can understand. From Phirrips.

Hey, Look at Those Pigs Flying Past Us

So um.....I've got a job offer out of nowhere. Yeah, graphic design related too, but I haven't said yes...yet.

I get this call yesterday from this guy who got my resume from the Co-Op thingy here at school and asking if I was interested in a graphic design internship at this engineer/welding/cutting company type place. I had the interview today, and he asked if I wanted the job. See, they haven't a Designer in there for a while to do all their labeling and product stuff and it's been pushed off onto engineers and this dude (who interviewed me) who does the technical writing.

Engineer dude + no time = bad taste (ergo horrible design)

Which helps because now anything I do is going to look so much better in comparison and I'll become a demi-god of sorts among these people because of my mad designing skills. Okay, so maybe not that last part, but their current stuff was pretty sucky. Also the job offers $11/hour, more than I expected really, and if it weren't for my great fear of not having enough time to do all my thumbnail crap for school projects I would of said, "Hell yeah!" or something to that extent.

Also, I'd need to quit the pizza business, so I have to give my manager some notice before just taking off. I feel a little bad about that since he's been willing to let me work so few hours, but I've come to the very reasonable conclusion that I need this experience interning much more than I do delivering pizzas. How I will miss the pizza so. It's also kind of hard because all the people there are easy to work with, I hope I don't end up having to deal with some jackass at my new gig.

So if all goes well, I'll call up the guy tomorrow and say, "Hey, I'll take the job!" and all will be hunky-dorie (how do you spell dorie?). I was just caught so much by surprise by this because I wasn't ACTIVELY seeking an intership, and I had to be sure I could really devote the time to this thing before saying yes. I didn't want end up being flakey and just taking a job without really thinking about first. You know, something, something. It's not everyday you're offered a job out of the blue.

Well, I'm going to try and get a little more sleep tonight and go to bed. See you lay-ta.

Mindless

Nothing like a hot cup of chai to cool you down. It's amazing how warm it is still and it's already November. Damn Texas.

I was being fairly productive yesterday, but I've been rather lazy today. I've gotten very little done, but I'm not really behind, just not ahead. I also really don't want to do that stupid timeline thing for Graphic Design History. Stupid 1940s.

I've got nothing real fun to say, just a little bored. I'll go be mindless some more now, which is actually quite nice.

What's Next?

I do like me some Corn Pops, I also like going to bed, which I'll be doing very soon.

I've gotten quite a bit done today, though trying to print off some photos earlier was really frustrating. My negatives would not be clean, either dirt or water spots, and had to keep re-cleaning them. Quite annoying. Plus, a lot of my photos didn't come out as well as I was hoping, I think I may have to take more pictures this weekend.

I also got some work done on my Bayou Magic crap (oh, and now I've got an authentic whiskey bottle for my marinade) which was taking longer than I was wanting, but as long as I was expecting. I'm not sure if that made sense, but I'm tired so I don't care.

I did some quick grocery shopping and was intrigued by purified water in a CAN! I don't recommend it all. It's confusing to drink first of all because there's no fizz or carbonation and then the water just has a yucky metallic taste, bleck. It only cost me a dollar for a six pack though (go Albertson's 10 for $10, and the random crap I end up buying because it's only a dollar, so I'm like, "HEY!" I should try that, it's only a dollar, and then if it's something I like next time I go it's not a dollar and then I'm too much of a cheap ass to pay full price so I end up finding some other random ass thing for a dollar. Yay random ass.) so not TOO bad. What will they come up with next? Canned air like in Spaceballs? I sure as hell hope so.

To bed off I go now. Strong in the force you are.
