KITTY!

So, I can avoid going out and getting a cat from the petstore or adoption center, but when a perfectly adorable kitty follows me into my apartment, that's another story. I will say that I did pet the cat while leaving my car to my apartment, but he followed me up the stairs and in through my front door. I cannot resist.

Now, I've decided to let him sleep in my apartment tonight, and then in the morning I'll feed him and stick him outside. I figure this way, if he has home he can go there, and if he doesn't he'll probably find his way back to my place. So, if he comes back, I'm still not completely sure if I'll keep him, or find some cat rescue or adoption center. So far he's been really sweet so I think he wouldn't have too hard of a time getting adopted.

I could also try and just keep him under wraps at home, and since I'll be moving to a new place (yay!) at the end of the year that does allow pets, I'll be home free. That is of course ignoring the fact that I already have a cute (yet quite crazy) little bird, who will probably not be a fan of the kitty. I'll have to do some research on how well I can reasonably train a cat to not go after bird (whom I like to let out the cage often). I don't want to make Boscoe Birdy's life miserable because I want a cat too.

Anyways, I'm not really planned out on this yet, but here's a picture...

Unfortunately, my camera isn't doing too well on the "focusing" thing so this is the best picture I could get. (Can't wait until I save up enough for my new DSLR!)

I seem to be rambling a lot, and I'm kind of sleepy. I'll try to keep posting, which isn't something I haven't been doing much of lately.

Night.

Pistolas

I don't like being sick, and right now I can't swallow my own spit. It feels nasty. Just thought I'd share that random bit of information.

I'd also like to say...

Because it's sounds funny when I replay my friend saying it in my head.

Hey look! It's big fat Scotty from Star Trek!

Swedish?

Mmm...Swedish Fish are good and yummy, being sick all of sudden? Not so good and yummy. Beware of reading this post I might just be contagious enough to spread biological viruses over the internet. You never know.

I don't really have much to say, my brain's kind of loopy because of my overstuffed sinuses and I can't speak intelligently at the moment... well, when have I ever spoken "intelligently" but you get what I mean. I'm going to stare at the wall some more and hopefully drift off to sleep soon...

Gawd, I hate this feeling of needing to sneeze constatntly. Bleck.

Citation

I know I haven't posted in a rather long time, but right now I need vent. I need to vent like a racehorse.

So, right now I just got my first citation...for running a stop sign, which I didn't really "run" a stop sign, I guess I just didn't stop completely and wait 30 seconds to move again. It pisses me off because there are so many MUCH WORSE traffic violations out there than not COMPLETELY stopping at the goddamn stop sign. What pisses me off more is that I almost got into an accident earlier today because some idiot ran a red light, but I get f-ing ticket for not fully stopping at the four-way stop (which there were no other cars except for the damn police car sitting in the dark).

God I'm not in a good mood right now. I was going to go make my evening a little bit more enjoyable by getting an over-priced chai latte from Starbucks, but now I don't really see my evening getting redeemed in any way. Also, I know this isn't the WORST thing in the world, but it's my first ticket ever, and it just ticks me off because I wasn't driving recklessly or in any way endangering other drivers. I just didn't quite stop enough to make the car rock forward before going on my merry damn way again.

"Yeah, lets wait at the relatively low-traffic stop sign and wait for the innumerous people who don't completely stop and give them a ticket instead of keeping our eyes open for predators or for people who are really driving dangerously."

Maybe I'll tell them I'll pay my ticket when I get my damn tax return from the IRS because I'm strapped for cash right now because the $1000 dollars I should have gotten over a month ago is going to take another month and a half (if I'm lucky) to get to me. Let's talk then government, then I'll pay your ticket.

So I guess I'm feeling a little bit better getting this out of my system, but damn, I'm still pretty pissed. I just hope it doesn't cost too much, and I hope I don't need to take defensive driving, because that just seems like a big waste of time, and I have better things to waste my time thank you very much.

I need a drink...

Random Quote of the Day

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
And they knew that it was much more than a hunch.

Oh Sanity, Why Do You Taunt Me So?

So...I've been reading some of my old posts, and I have to ask. Was I really that insane my Sophomore year? I must've been because many of my old posts make very little sense even to myself, and, for the most part, I remember what I was talking about. I'm not sure how anyone else could gleem any intelligable thought from my early rantings.

I'm not sure if anyone can understand what I write about now. I don't post as often, but I do like to put my thoughts down from time to time, and it's nice to at least have my thoughts make some sort of sense. I know they're random, but I'm random, it's to be expected. I didn't realize (until just reading some 2004 & 2005 posts) just how insane I sounded.

I suppose I was going through a pretty big transition at that point, many big things happening in a very short amount of time. I met John (which we've now been together for 3 years, yay us!), started the Comm. Design program (which causes insanity all on its own), terrible sleep schedule, lots of work, crummy job...the list goes on. So maybe it's reasonable that I did become, at least partially, insane.

Maybe the point that I'm trying to make is, that I can see that I have changed quite a bit since I first started this thing. While I still here myself very clearly in my old posts, it's a different me. I guess I have grown up some, perhaps become a little more mature, and maybe more considerate (at least I'd like to think so). I guess I just find it kind of interesting.

I find it enjoyable to read back on my thoughts, I'm probably my own biggest fan of this here blog, which is why I haven't completely given up on it. So I'll keep on, keep on, keep on, posting it right.

...yeah, I am insane, this post doesn't even make much sense. Oh well.

Random Quote of the Day

Let's fight us some foos.

Puff, the Magic Dragon

Hmm...what to talk about? I went to the optometrist today, that was mildly fun, sort of. Especially when I got the puff of air shot into my eyes, I was having a really hard time staying still for that. I do fine as long as can't see what the doctor is going to do to me, but seeing as this is an EYE doctor it's hard not to see what he's doing. At the dentist I do great, they can drill and poke forever. You know why? because I can close my eyes. As long as I don't see them sticking the sharp evil thing in my mouth, I'm pretty good. Puff of air into the eyes, not so much. Too much anticipation, it felt like forever before the puff would just hit me already. Just get it over with! Why torture me so!?

Okay, really the eye doctor was a nice guy, and the puff of air wasn't that bad. I just found it so hard to still at that point. Which is usually something I can do pretty well.

Well, in other news...there isn't much other news. Been working, it's going alright, nothing too exciting to share. I do have one complaint though, does it HAVE to be so damn cold in my cube? Does it really? Everybody in my surrounding area are sitting in front of computers, it doesn't need to be that cold. We aren't doing jumping-jacks here. I think my solution is just to attack people with my frozen hands until someone gets the point. I feel that that is a pretty solid plan. Yes, a solid plan indeed.

If you can't already tell, I've got nothing to talk about really. Not even Seinfeld nothing. I can always find something to complain about, but am I really saying anything? The answer is no. I'm not saying a damn thing, and I'm still not saying a damn thing. Blah, blah, blah, yadda, yadda, yadda, so on and so on.

Nothing.

Nada.

Zip.

Look at me, I'm Zippy Longstockings.

That's right nothing, and I'll continue on nothing for...a little while at least.

One cool something I can share, "Ninja Gaiden Sigma" on PS3 really kicks ass. Because when is being a ninja NOT cool. Answer me that. Answer me that.

It's almost midnight and sadly I have work in the morning. I best be heading to bed. Night foos.

Random Quote of the Day

You have to do the water.

One More Thing

So, I've been thinking tonight (as I often do) and have come to the sad conclusion that I can't really use "swimmer" as part of my personal description. Maybe I'll get my weak arms and flabby butt in the water on a regular basis again, but I'm sad I'm not part of a team anymore (even though it's been 4 1/2 years since I've been on the swim team). I guess also I feel that, now that I'm out of school, I'm no longer part of the sleep-deprived, over-worked, but overly awesome Comm Design Squad anymore, and now I don't have a group. I guess I have coworkers now, but it's not quite the same. I guess it never really is, but I don't know where I'm going with this.

I've also come to another conclusion tonight...I need to work-out. I'm not talking over the top and get super buns of steel, but I'm getting a bit flabby and it's probably easier if I start working out NOW before I get too flabby. A little muscle tone never hurt anyone.

Another thing, I really want to draw, but I have a horrendous time thinking up projects for myself. I'm trying to do more film photography (I will share photos later when I get them developed), but I want to draw too. I like drawing people, but then I got to get someone to sit still for me or at least pose for a photograph, but it's awkward to ask, and then people get all self-conscious, and blah, blah, blah.

Anyways, I'll stop complaining about my non-problems. I just felt a need to write something on this here blog here.

...Great, now after listening to this again I don't think this song will leave my head any time soon. It is quite entertaining though.

I guess things are going pretty well at work. Oh yeah, and tomorrow will be my first paycheck on the new salary, sah-weet! Especially since my funds are getting pretty low now that I've gone through most of my loan from this past semester.

Okay, I really can't focus very well right now to write anymore. I'll talk you chillins later.

Recap: Grads, Newlyweds, and PS3s

I know, I know, it's been a while, but I was plagued by bouts of extreme business and then a bout of extreme laziness. I always seem to come back around though.

Like I said, much business, graduated with my BFA (woohoo!), sister's wedding (schway cool), vacate to EP (relax), start work as a now salaried employee, turn 22 (yay B-day!), buy new TV and Playstation 3 (kicks much ass), graduate status revoked (boo, I'll explain later), and, finally (I say finally, but it was really only a day), graduate status re-invoked (yay!).

So, graduation was pretty sweet (way too many Business Majors though, bleck). Went to the Ponder Steakhouse for a celebratory lunch (if you live in the DFW area, I need to take you there sometime, it's berry nice). Got to spend some fun time with my childhood friend "Betty". Went to a grad party where I got to see drunk people play Nintendo Wii (now THAT'S entertainment). Much fun to be had by all.

Then a week after that, my sister gets married (super yay!). Very lovely wedding, (mix of traditional American wedding with some integrated Indian customs, very cool) and my new bro-in-law's relatives are really fun (if you've never danced to Indian Dance music, you're missing out (I'm actually being serious)). My dad had many a tequilla shot and was prodded to sing Johnny Horton's "The Battle of New Orleans" when there was some technical difficulty with the DJ equipment. Only made more fun by my uncle (my dad's older bro) felt compelled to join in. Ah, two old, drunk, tone-deaf guys singing a song that should have never been created.

Dad + Tequilla shots = extremely weird

Next in line is my trip down to EP. Which, while nothing remarkable happened (other than me giving my dad a car for his birthday...well, giving him back HIS car, ahem.) it was nice. I like to chill out and relax and EP is a good place to do that.

So after about a week in EP, I come back home and start work on the 29th of May. Nothing real special there, I've been doing this job for a year and half now, except now I'm getting paid more and working full-time. Other than pretty much the same, but with a new boss, moved cubes, and got another BGLS (Brand, Graphics, & Literature Service) teammate. Alright, so it's changed some, but still basically the same.

So then we enter the frustation of yesterday and today where my mom get's a letter from my school saying that because I got a NP (No Pass) in one of my classes I don't graduate. This class was Pass/No Pass class for a reason...I didn't need the credit and Pass/No Pass standing in a class doesn't affect your GPA.

Hmmm...I wonder why I blew it off?

Maybe because I had enough other crap to do with my Senior Portfolio and work it was really hard for me to care about a class that I didn't need. Well, I did need it for one thing, otherwise I would've dropped it, and that's for Financial Aid. I needed to be a full-time student to receive any, and by the time I talked to my advisor and she informed that the class was unnecessary it was too late to register for another class. So I explained all this today to the advisor that's in charge of graduation stuff (probably the same on I talked to at the beginning of the Spring Semester). I was really afraid that either I was misadvised or misunderstood. Though after going through one of my old degree plans I was quite sure I filled all my requirements. Fortunately, the advisor agreed with me and now I'm a graduate again (yay!).

So, this rapid turn of events regarding my diploma caused me to stress out a fair amount. Granted, I shouldn't have freaked out like I did (and I really kind of did, I promise I'm sane, just a little unstable at times, particularly when something really unexpected comes up and I'm really unsure of what might happen...which when I think about it would stress many people), but man, I worked my ass off for 4 years and I would have been really ticked off and embarrassed to go from graduating with honors to not graduating and having to take one crap class to fill my degree.

I'm glad to be done with school.

(I'm also glad I have a PS3, because it kicks ass. Oh, and Blue-Ray movies, on an HDTV, look quite awesome.)

Class of 2007

Ah, it's nice to be able to relax again. All I've got left to do is one Art History test and a couple of ceremony/banquet things and then I'll be officially done. So far, since turning it my stuff on Wednesday, it's been awesome NOT doing homework. It's sort of sad in a way that I'm more excited about NOT doing homework than I am about actually having a degree.

It's been wondermous doing stuff and not thinking about or worrying what I need to get done for class, because you know what? I'm done with homework! Such a great feeling. My apartment will be clean again (that's actually what I'm taking a break from doing right now), I can play video games again (maybe I'll even buy a Wii), and I already have a job so I don't even have to worry about that. Things are going quite well.

Also, maybe I can be a better playmate for Boscoe so he doesn't feel so compelled to hang out with the external HD:

He's also got a bit of red-eye as well, kind of makes look more evil than cute.

Graduation's next week and my sister's wedding is the weekend after that, so I'll still be fairly busy, but you know what? I won't have to do any homework. Now with my free evenings I can play Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, or watch Freakazoid episodes on YouTube, or read my growing collection of books that I haven't had time to read (until now).

I have come to realize though, that as hard and as time consuming that these past 3 years have been (freshman year doesn't really count, it was pretty easy), I've been able to get through it better than most. I've recently been hearing quite a few horror stories of people in my program that have really put their health in danger, spent many a sleepless night, and have had their families strain (those that have children and are married) as well to get through this. I obviously have been stressed, tired, and probably not eaten the best, but I never thought it was that out of the ordinary. So, I'm glad to have survived relatively unscathed and actually have pretty stable footing for after graduation.

Here's to the class of 2007, especially me.

Brooding

With my graduation impending and I tirelessly (ha!) work away at my final projects, I find myself dreaming of life AFTER college...and it doesn't look half bad. I officially got an offer to work full-time (or is it "fool" time? eh, get it?) at my place of "bidnez" last week, so that'll get taken care of. That is unless I get under some mind control of evil little aliens that make me turn into an ass (or more of one I guess) and end up getting me fired, but that's unlikely.

Also, with the prospect of actual FREE time (not just time where I am postponing doing more homework) I'm considering getting another pet. You know maybe I'll get Boscoe a friend because I feel kind of sad when he tries talking to my sock, or a pillow, or blanket, or some other light colored cloth (he's becoming less and less particular). It would also be nice that if I had to go away for a couple of days he'd have a friend and I could just find someone to feed him and his buddy everyday, but not have to worry about providing mounds of social interaction. Plus, Boscoe really doesn't like being left alone, so if I got another bird he wouldn't be, the only downfall of this plan is that he probably won't want to spen as much time with me if there's another bird around to keep him company.

Then there's pet idea number 2 (or maybe I just combine this with the first pet idea) and I get a bunny. I think a bunny would be good because: bunnies don't eat birds, they're small, pretty good indoor pets, and very cute...

Though I've never owned a bunny before, from what I've read so far they wouldn't be any more time consuming than a cat (a needy cat).

I don't know just some thoughts, I've been missing my other pets back in EP lately and it would be nice to have a small brood of my own.

While I wouldn't mind typing some more Blogger is being incredibley slow right now and it's getting to annoying to deal with anymore. Laters.

Life was a gas, but that gas has passed.

Only One More Month

So I've got a lot of crap to do before graduation. Hopefully I can stay sane this final month of school, but honestly I'm kind of freaked out that it's coming up so quickly.

Maybe if I had a more concrete plan of what I want to do after graduation I'd feel better, but I DON'T know what I want at all. Great I've got a diploma, now what? I'm not going to stay at my current job forever, but at least it's a nice buffer before I make some better, more satisfactory career choices.

At least I made up some cool graduation announcements, and now that I'm done printing and cutting them out I can send them off soon. I guess I'll figure stuff out all in due time. Doesn't keep me from worrying about how I'm going to get all my stuff done or done WELL that is.

Whatcha gonna do with all that ass? All that ass inside them jeans.

5 Minutes to Kill Yourself

Best. Mini-game. Ever.

Sounds like it could be a good idea in practice if only it didn't hurt so much.

So yeah, that's about all I got. I could rant about work for a while, but that would take more energy than I have at the moment. It just sucks that I'm pretty sure I'll be needing to take more time off of work (you know, trying to graduate, final projects. That old chestnut.) but, it seems as though there are people at work that might absolutely DIE if I'm not there to do last minute projects all the damn time. I'm not trying to be self-centered or anything, but there would probably be a few panic attacks if I took off work for a week.

I should demand more money. And puppies. And cake. Maybe those things would help. "More puppies! Then I will do your task." Buwahaha. Or something.

I think it's time for bed.

SQUAWK OUT LOUD!

Jenny Says, "Turn Off the Radio"

Okay people, I'm going to really try to be more up to date with this thing. It's almost been 3 years since I started this whole blogging craziness and I've been slacking off. Even if no one reads this, it's kind of fun for me personally to go back and read my own rants. Why? Because I'm funny damnit. Damn funny.

Alright, on with the show.

Issues with work are improving slightly, key word "slightly". I have the upmost confidence that things will settle down relatively soon...or not. DAMN YOU BOOB!

I'm having issues with my cell phone alarm because its not doing its job alarming me. It was pure chance that I actually woke up on time this morning, and while I do have a clock/radio I have issues with it as well. It does some weird pulsing static sound randomly (usually at night) and it scares the crap out of me. Its not very loud, but its a very odd sound and is annoying when it wakes me up at 4 in the morning. Not cool.

I slipped and fell today, just so you know. Pretty smooth fall as well, my foot slipped in a puddle and I went backwards, but was able to catch myself with my left hand and kept myself from falling in the afore mentioned puddle. I jarred my arm a bit, but no scrapes or bruises to speak of. So it was a good fall, if there's such a thing as a good fall.

I better head to bed, just incase my clock/radio doesn't wake me up tomorrow either if I get enough sleep I have a better chance of waking up on my own. Stupid broken cell phone alarm. Why, why must you break?! You're so convenient and handy.

Stupid phone.

Issues

I guess I've been pretty busy lately, which is why I haven't posted in a while. And considering this the last day of my "Spring Break" I'm still pretty worn out. That may be because my Spring Break has been less restful/enjoyable that I would have liked, especially since this is my last Spring Break. So I guess I'll tell you why my Spring Break kind of sucked.

There are two main issues why my Spring Break sucked, the bigger issue, Issue #1, is my boss just quit. Not only did he quit, he quit in a very shit-tastic way. How shit-tastic you may ask? Let me explain. My "Boss of Old Bullshit" (we'll call him BOOB for short) had the idea in his head to create an Empire. He wanted to do things his way, not the company's way. He didn't want to listen to other people, he wanted to do it his way. He didn't care how many toes he stepped or how many heads he went over, he was going to do it his way. He almost got it his way. How? Let me explain. BOOB didn't tell people the whole story, he'd twist other peoples remarks around which were "accurate" remarks, but remarks to half truths that he told people so that he would get people to think his way was the best way. His way is not the best way.

You see, I work for a fairly large company. I do a job for the company, and that is to create graphics (boxes, insert cards, signage, ect.). I like doing my job and only my job. BOOB wanted to take on other people's jobs. He wanted be in charge of purchasing for graphics stuff. He wanted to do inhouse production on small manuals/warning sheets (let it be known that there are 3 of us in the graphics and literature team). This is a lot of stuff for a very small group in the company to be in charge of, but he wanted to make his position very hard to fill, he offered an ultimatum "Give BOOB a raise or BOOB quits". Higher level boss calls BOOB on his bluff, which is a good thing. BUT, but what is not a good thing is that me and coworker have to clean up all the shit and chaos that BOOB had started (but fortunately hadn't gotten too far).

BOOB kept me and coworker out of the loop on most of his empire building plans, we're slowly piecing things together. Everyday another issue arises that could possibly put production to a stop which is the thing we're most trying to avoid. All this stuff really sucks. And this is where Issue #2 becomes an issue over my non-Spring Break.

I have a major project due tomorrow (that's Monday, the Monday after Spring Break). So I've got Issue #BOOB to deal with, which for once causes me to worry about work when I'm not at work, and a big project for Graphic Design (my major, the class that's most important to me). All going on over non-Spring Break. Either of these issues alone wouldn't be so bad, but together they cause me much stress.

I'm really pissed off at BOOB for all the problems he caused that me and coworker now have to clean up. He brought more work than necessary unto himself to try and get a double boost in pay because he did so. He had pretty good ideas, but he was impatient and ended up causing way more problems in other departments than he did fixing problems in our own. BOOB was just not a team player I guess, and damnit was he arrogant. Like the shitty way he pretended to listen to your idea, but would never really consider it...pisses me off.

Okay, I'm done venting for the time being. The good news (finally!) is that I've gotten all the pieces for the Hotel Lawrence mocked-up and I'm pretty happy with it. I'll be happy to quasi turn it in tomorrow (it's not officially done until the final portfolio review at the end of the semester).

Oh well, I did get more sleep this week than usual because I didn't have class, but then again, did I ever have class?

Ha ha, it's funny because it's really not funny.

I'll shut-up now.

Wheel of morality turn, turn, turn. Tell us the lesson that we should learn.

Um...Yeah

I guess I haven't posted a "real" post in a while, so I'll attempt to do so now...

...

Um...well,hmm...

...

You still there? Okay, let me try again. Think real post, not links to Freakazoid clips on YouTube, REAL POST. Uh...

Kay, so I'm still drawing a blank here folks, let's try one more time.

So, I guess I'm still up to the same old crap, work, school, homework, work, school, homework, etc. Someday this may end...hopefully. Um...yeah.

Oh, Happy Birthday Mom! and Happy Belated Birthday Cristina/Betty/Gremlin/Whatever-you-want-to-call-yourself.

I was hoping that would kill some more time, but it didn't really.

I'm finally going to meet the BF's parents, exciting for me. Progress in the relationship, always good. I just hope I don't make an ass of myself, that would be bad, and is also pretty high on the probability meter. Note to self: keep smartass remarks to self, err on the side of extreme politeness. Perhaps I'll listen to my own advice.

Um...drawing another blank.

Work was interesting today, my coworker and I were creating scenarios for the "Safety Duck" to help aid in presentation this week. Now this will take a while to explain, and it might not make any sense in the end, so bear with me...or don't. I don't really care if you can bare all or be fully clothed, I can't see you so read naked if you like. ANYWAYS, the "Safety Duck" was established when I first started working at the Welding Place, and I was asked to adapt this little cartoon guy that was doing stuff that you SHOULDN'T do around or with welding equipment. I changed the guy to a duck, and now he seems to be gaining popularity for no particular reason (the duck is part of a little "comic strip" that's 5 inches long, I didn't think anybody would notice).

So now it's been suggested to create a series of posters featuring the "Safety Duck". My main goal is to have many unfortunate things happen to the duck. Example 1: for "Quality Control" the duck (because he isn't very intelligent) looks into the nozzle of a welding torch which goes off, severely singing his head. Example 2: for "Work Flow", the duck rides an acetylene gas cylinder like a rocket and crashes into a brick wall. This goes on for a series of 6 posters (perhaps I will post them when we're done). I must say it's quite fun to think of unfortunate things to happen to the "Safety Duck", very amusing.

I'm glad I finally thought up some stuff to post, that was pretty scary at the beginning. Well, not really scary, just...you know, something. Yeah.

I know I've left my devoted readers heart-broken for not posting for not posting in such a long time. Anyways, been working on logos for my "Hotel Lawrence" client and I think I've got a few keepers.

It's kind of nice working at a faster pace in this class because it leaves less time to agonize over everything. Basically I need to do something that looks good and is appropriate. I don't see how logos can get too concept heavy anyways, at least most of the time.

I was also able to find photos of Dallas "Then and Now" at Half-Priced Books ( I really like that store). So I think that'll help with the history angle I'm trying take with the Hotel Lawrence.

I also got a Collective Soul CD case with not the matching Collective Soul CD, but with a Tracy Byrd CD instead. I've always liked a little alternative country music and "One round with Jose Cuervo". Note to self: check CD when buying from a second-hand store.

(Just so you know, the reason I felt compelled to buy a CD is because I just got a new stereo/glorified boombox as a late X-mas gift from the bf. I have yet to set it up, but it's schway cool!)

So...that's all I got at the moment.

...okay, bye.

Standby

I guess I really don't feel all that bad, I just need to get some stuff out of my system.

System Failure

So...I'm pretty sure this last semester will kill me. I like all of my classes and my professors. I like my job okay. What I don't like is giant mounds of homework and thumbnails though, and, to be honest, I'm burnt out. I thought getting through school in four years would be great, but right now I'd like to just go on hiatus until the summer or fall semester.

I guess I don't feel totally up to the task, and I don't know if I want to start something that I might run out of juice to finish. Maybe it's fear of failure, maybe it's fear of graduation. Maybe. MAYBE. I'm just tired of everything and I want the world to stop...just for a bit.

Unfortunately, the world won't stop for my sanity and complaining and worrying about the semester isn't helping me. I know these things, but they are of small comfort at the moment. I need classes to graduate, I need work for dinero. I can't get rid of either without some pretty bad repercussions.

I feel stuck, I feel hopeless, I feel overwhelmed. I feel that I don't know what I want, or that I should want something different.

I feel tired and hungry, and I need to go to bed and shut my brain off because I can't stop overthinking.

Random Quote of the Day

That's a big vronsnooker!

But I don't Wanna Go to School!

Ugh, tomorrow's back to school, and while I only have one class tomorrow at 12:30 I have to get to work by 8 so that I get enough hours in. I'm getting tired of this work and school thing, but I only have this semester left so I suppose I'll survive.

I'm a bit depressed that I'll be mostly devoid of free-time and the fact that it'll be a while before my bf and me will get a full day off together (we just had 3 days off together this weekend, that was a nice change).

Oh well, not much to report other than it was fairly icy today, and the sidewalk around my apartment isn't salted or sanded at all making it fairly precarious to walk to and from my apartment. I better get to bed soon, I don't really want to start the semester being tired, that'll come soon enough. Night, night.

Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?

So, I'm very glad school hasn't started...yet. Unfortunately, it will start soon though. Actually I'm sort of dreading my last semester, because I think I'm going just be more exhausted than I was last semester. That, and the fact that I have to go into the "real-world" after this semester which is cool and depressing at the same time.

Most of the problem I'm having is that I'm already asking myself the "now what?" question that plagues all who enter into new life chapters. I mean I could stay at my current job, which is appealing because it would be relatively easy, and after being constantly busy from school the past four years, I think that would be nice, at least for a little while.

Then there's the question of "what's my dream job?" and I have not a fricken clue. I sort of know what I want to do, and as nerdy as it sounds I kind of think designing text books sounds cool. Trying to make something that's a chore to read (hopefully) more interesting.

In thinking about what I want to do I'm realizing that I have very boring dreams. Stability is more important to me than going off to New York or Chicago or Europe or some other cool place. I want a job I can leave and not have to worry about when I get home...I'd like to have some more pets, maybe a little art studio (that could be a garage for all I care).

Now, perhaps you wonder what's prompted this thinking, which is simple, my professor sent out a questionnare for everyone to fill out so that our adjuncts can know a little bit about us. I've filled it out, but I might modify some of the answers since I haven't sent it back yet:

1. What three magazines do you read regularly?
I only really read one magazine and it's for fun, PSM. I look at various design magazines (I've got about a dozen of old Communication Arts lying around) while researching every once in a while, but not regurarly. Bad designer, bad.

2. Who is your design hero? Why?
I don't have a design hero per se, unless Alex Ross counts (he does some cool comic book stuff).

3 & 4. What is your dream job upon graduation? Why is it your dream job?
I would actually like to work on text books. Since so much of graphic designer work ends up being trash to most people, it would be nice to make something that's used a lot, more appealing and hopefully clearer to understand. This dream may change, but it sounds interesting at the moment.

5. What's your plan for realizing that dream?
I don't have much of a plan yet, but I guess find some publishing companies that seem to provide that work I'm interested and try to get an interview.

6.When was the moment you decided to become a designer/art director?
The "moment" I (sort of) realized that I'd like to do design, apart from always liking to draw and being in art class, is when I became really obsessive in creating a fictional brochure for the country of Monaco in my highschool geography class. All I had was Word and few crappy images from the internet, but I tried my hardest to make it perfect. I wish I still had that thing to see if it was at least sort of good.

7. What is your philosophy for life?
To always do my best and try not to worry too much.

8. On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being most prepared, how prepared are you to graduate?
I guess a 5, because while I may not have the greatest internship in the world, I've already been offered a full-time job after graduation. I guess stability is more important to me than having the coolest job in the world.

9. What is the main thing you want to accomplish with this class?
To make a killer portfolio so that I can feel confident in finding a new and more interesting job after graduation. More specifically I'd like to get better at making better page layout designs, I tend to not have enough variation within my spreads to keep it interesting.

Anyways, I think I'm done with my pondering for now. I'm going to play some more video games ("Bully" is rather entertaining so far).
