Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wide enough
to keep me from getting to you babe.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, We're Off to Ohio

Tomorrow I'm leaving to Ohio with my parents. I guess my Grandpa isn't doing very well at all, but he hasn't been doing good since his stroke last year. I'm sort of feeling "emotionally sick" right now...hard to explain because I don't know fully why myself. My Grandpa being physically unwell is definately a part of it, but isn't the whole reason I don't feel well.

I hate when I get in these moods, most of the time they don't make any sense and I find it hard to pull myself out of them at times. Most of it is probably because I have to little to do and nothing really to distract me from "thinking" too much. I guess this is why I have my little blog here so that I can write and get a few things out of my head.

It's looking more and more like I'm staying in EP for the whole summer, though I still don't really want to stay here. I don't really have any close friends around here at the moment, so my social life is down the tubes (well, I guess I never really had much of one to begin with) while I'm down here. Feeling sorry for myself isn't going to solve anything either. I really want to be back in school, I know what I have to do then, but right now I'm just wandering aimlessly and don't have too many people to share in my abundance of free time.

Whine, whine, whine. Bitch, bitch, bitch. Anyways, with me being up in northern farm country indefinitely and with lack of access to a computer with Internet connection (maybe I'll find one, though doubtful) there won't be much posting from for at least a week and a half if not longer. I'm not really looking forward to the 30 hour drive(my parents take lots of breaks) but it's nice to know I can help my mom out and visit my grandparents (who I really don't get to see enough of) and other relatives around in the area.

Sorry for being mournful and self-indulgent in my pitifullness (I know that's not a real word), but I do already feel a little better already. So don't you all worry your pretty little heads about poor little ol' Missy. Night chillins.

Random Quote of the Day

I've never come this way before.

Brace Yourselves!

Oh joy! It's raining in El Paso! and sadly hasn't allowed me to paint the house today. Darn. I'm so upset, I had to play video games to fill up my day and get NOTHING accomplished. It is quite a drastic change from 103 degree weather to 63 degrees. Rather amazing I must say.

Yesterday was very cool because I went shopping with my mom and she likes to pay for things. Okay, maybe not LIKE, but she did it as kind of a birthday gift to me and also because I go to a far away school and I don't mooch off of them too much. So, I got a pretty skirt (Yes, hell HAS frozen over) which is nice, long and flowy and kind of hippyish and couple of hippy shirts to go with it, AND some kickass running shoes (Pumas to be precise). New things always brighten up the day.

What's also cool is that I got to fly my stunt kite yesterday (you know the kind of kites that are attached by two strings instead of just one and you can make it do cool loops and crap, yeah, it kicks ass). Cause nothing brightens up the day like new shit and kite flying.

Damn I'm sleepy, I had to pick up my replacement retainer this morning ($78!) since I've misplaced my other one. I'm sure it's packed up somewhere with all my junk, but since I'm HERE in EP and my junk's THERE in FW I can't look for it very well. Ah, the joys of braces. For those of you that may not know, I had braces on for almost 7 years, the first 5 years I went to a "orthodontist" in Juarez (that's in Mexico, btw). He didn't make my teeth any worse (my teeth were quite jacked so that was pretty hard to do) but braces really shouldn't take longer than 2 (MAYBE 3) years to fix up jacked teeth. I've had three surgeries on my gums (two of which were done in Juarez by my "orthodontist" (insert cringe here) and were much more painful than the one I had done in the States by my perodontist (a gum professional, NOT some guy who xeroxed his "diploma" and used white out and scribbled his name on it). Why did my parents send me to some guy in Mexico? because they're cheap (for good reason, they've never been rich (except for having me as a daughter (insert gag here)) so that this sounded like good "deal". Which means I have some half trained "doctor" repeatedly sticking his hands in my mouth and I have to wait to get across the damn bridge every time we go over to J-town. International travelling? Not so fun). Why did I put up with it? because I had no choice really, my teeth were really bad and this was the only option I was really given. As one can guess though, since I ended up going to a real orthodontist in the end, it wasn't very cheap. So maybe spending $78 dollars on a retainer is worth it.

...Now only if I'd wear it...

Hey dad, I learned a new word in spanish today, "Bendejo!"

Mi Ojo! She Hurts!

I have an eyelash stuck in my eye! and it HURTS! I can't get rid of it and it's really irritating. Someone needs to tell me a really sad story so I can cry it out cause I can't seem to flush it out and I can't see it in the mirror to pull it out. I just know that it hurts and it sucks trying to type with one eye closed. It feels worse than getting my gums poked at by the peridontist (with whom I had an appointment with yesterday.) It's like Chinese torture or something.

(whimper, whine, whimper)

Damn eyelash. Family Guy will be on soon so maybe that'll make me laugh hard enough to cry. I can't even think about anything else other than the damn eyelash that's lodged into my eyeball. Eye chapenecas, stupido ojo! Aye, my eye. I'll go and try to whimper silently in the corner now. Aye aye.

Show Me the Boo-tay!

So yeah, I'm just here. Don't have any real news to report. I started scraping the trim on my parents' house so I can paint it, one area is really sun-beaten and it's taking me a while, but after I'm done cleaning it up I can start painting and just scrape a few areas when needed. If it weren't so dang hot out I would have more hours in the day to work on it, but I have to wait till late afternoon for that area to even be in the shade, so yeah.

It's summer, it's hot, and pools are great. I just wish I could remember how to play swim. I don't know how I did it when I was little, play all day EVERY day in the summer and mostly in the pool. Sure there was pretend, and action figures (or dolls), and the random Nintendo adventure, but a lot of my childhood was spent in my parents' pool. Ah, those were the days, eat a few Otter Pops, have a barbeque, show off to older sibling's friends.

That's right, I'm a show-off, when I got my stilts and my sibs had parties, I showed off. How many people know how to walk on stilts? Come on really, it's something to show off. When we got a giant trampoline I'd do frontflips, backflips (that took me a while to learn), this weird bouncing off around on my back trick, never cracking my egg, and condsidering how small I was I could bounce anyone. That's right anyone, there's a trick, a manuever, and sure I'd get tired if the person was pretty big, but I could bounce them. Right on. Oh, and Butt-tag, not as dirty as it sounds, but gods that was fun. I had three guy friends I always played with (this was at an age when some people got interested in the opposite sex, but not me, I'm oblivious even to this day) and you'd have to bounce off your butt first before trying to tag someone. Rather challenging since your mobility is hampered when jumping off your butt and requires some fancy reaching. I miss those guys, I bet we'd have nothing to really talk about though now, but those were fun times.

BOOTYLICIOUS! just felt like saying that, my brain's going weird. Anyways, I'm a show-off, if someone new comes around I'll show them my stilts, my mad trampolining skills, and my fast swimmer moves. I need to find some people who are comfortable on the trampoline and start a game of Butt-tag. Butt-tag, how I miss you so.

SOMEBODY PLAY WITH ME!

Would THIS impress Ed Asner?

What is...?

Ah, the joys of vacation. I have been so lazy, and what makes matters worse is that I bought "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" which assures that I won't get anything accomplished. Not that I have anything TO accomplish really. Though, I do have some junk in my old bedroom that I probably should sort through and organize better. I feel bad leaving crap here when I don't really live here anymore.

I did mow the lawn today, so that's something, but some parts of the yard is really just dirt and that's not very fun to mow. I was sneezing and yelling by the end of it (I sneeze kind of loud, but I don't actually yell with my sneezes like my mom and sister do, so that's a good thing). I really don't know what I could do.

Hmm...let's think, I suppose I could design a cool logo or something for my old highschool swim team. I sort of designed t-shirts when I still was in highschool, and I'd do it for free of course. Maybe I'll ask my old coach, since I have been showing off my Graphic Design portfolio to my old art teachers. I think I enjoy showing off way too much.

Oh yeah, I did see something quite funny on Jay Leno before though (TV!!!!!!!!!! During the week!!!!!!! NO FRICKIN' WAY!!!!!!!!!) and some gay Russian dude was hoola-hooping around his ass in his underwear (I don't know why he stripped down really, but he did, and because the stripping down was useless it was that much funnier.) trying to impress Ed Asner. Why Ed Asner? No one knows, but it was funny nonetheless.

So, I thought you all might enjoy some randomness from me. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out the "anonymous" on B.'s blog, but maybe that's for the best. AND maybe I'll forget about in time...maybe. Maybe I should do a TNT ad "What is Drama?"

Oedipus Shmoedipus: a boy shouldn't love his mother?

Summer Time Isn't So Fine

So yea, I have been in EP for almost a whole day, and I'm already quite bored. I'm going to need to find SOMETHING to keep me occupied and try not to spend the last bit of my money just because I'm bored.

My mom keeps wanting me to stay here and isn't getting it that I don't WANT to spend all summer in El Paso, but now that damn internship I thought I had lined up said that they were going to be longer in moving than they originally expected. I should be up in Ft. Worth looking for a job, I'm not sure why I said I wanted to come down here in the first place. Oh wait, yeah I do, so I could have a bit of a vacation, but I'm not sure if I know how to shut my brain off anymore.

I really wish I didn't have to worry so much about money, but I guess I'm only hitting the tip of the iceberg with that, I'm going to have oodles of fun when I start paying off all of my student loans after I graduate. Well, hopefully then I won't get stuck with shitty jobs like delivering pizzas or being a lunch lady. I would really like that Graphic Design position, and they said they might get me a little mini project to do, but I can't do much here because my parents computer isn't all that great and I don't have my fancy programs to see the designs through anyways.

Alright, I'll stop complaining about my "vacation" I just really need to find something to do. At least now no "anonymous" replies will come my way.

Summer Gas

Quick recap (again, stupid blogger): Moved out my shit, rents checked out apartment, drove in rush hour traffic, got peed on, sister's bf sniffed out a gas leak, ate fajitas, watched Mavs, and now the gas company is digging a hole in my bro's front lawn. The getting peed on by my bro's dog really sucked too. Stupid dog.

Anyways, I should get going before my brother REALLY thinks I'm conversing with the enemy this time. Summer has officially begun.

Goodbye Dorm

So this is my last night in the dorms, kind of sombering actually. It's funny how you can get so caught up in trying "finish" and get through something and then feel kind of sad when it ends. Though I am not changing my mind about wanting an apartment, I think dorm life will now be best remembered and no longer experienced. Ah, new chapters are fun to write though too, and the story will go on, because what fun is life unless there's something new around the bend, some new challenge or discovery or heartache.

It seems I'm a little on the poetic side tonight, but I'm feeling very "complete" I guess is the word. It feels so strange to not have a million things running through my head, to NOT have something else that needs to be done. All I gotta do is move. That's it. Other than that I'm going to spend a couple of weeks goofing off with my parents.

I didn't even realize how much I missed them until I had dinner with them tonight. It seems that when it's only me with them that's our whole family, my sibs are just "close" friends or something. I guess that's one of the perks of being the youngest and being able to really bond with your parents and see them as friends in addition to their parenthoodness-like thing. I don't have any specific plans for the summer and that feels quite nice really. Planning is way overrated.

Well, I better pack up some more stuff. One door closes and a window breaks or something like that.

Super Rod the Pianist

It's so great not to have to get up early. I got up at noon today, fantastic. I still haven't gotten my review back, but hopefully that will come in tomorrow.

Mmm....I do love me some Lion King fruit snacks.

So yeah, slept in today, drew two more ducks, so now I've only got one left to do. Packed up some more, well, actually I just "organized" some more, I haven't put anything more in my car since last week and hopefully I can drop some of that stuff off at my friend's tomorrow (the person with whom I'm bumming over the summer). Oh yeah, and I've studied some too. I guess I could read a little more since I don't seem to be too sleepy and don't really feel like going to sleep as of yet.

I did manage to get my roommate hooked onto Super Nintendo games by showing her how to download an emulator and some roms. I think she's been playing it for at least 3 hours straight by now. Damnit, I still have that stupid Rod Stewart song stuck in my head. Some girl from work started singing it, "if you like my body and you think I'm sexy." GET OUT EVIL ROD STEWART DEMONS!

I'm going to have nintendo music stuck in my head forever now too. It is better than Rod Stewart though, I must admit. Here's another fun video so you all can have nintendo songs stuck in your head as well. It's some pianist playing Super Mario songs for 10 minutes. He knows how to pianist quite well. Also, I think I like to say "pianist" a little too much. Pianist, pianist, pianist, pianist, pianist....(continues throughout the night until exorcised by over zeolous priests who make me follow along with Richard Simmons and put an afro wig onto my head, where I then decide that world has gone insane and it's not just me.)

Study Habits

A WHOLE WEEKEND SPENT NOT DOING THUMBNAILS! OR ANY OTHER VARIATION OF GRAPHIC DESIGN HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, that just feels so good. Too bad I didn't study as much for my Anthro test as I should have (I just got done taking it), but I did pretty well, and I have 101.3 average in my lab, so hopefully that will negate my lack of studying for the lecture tests. Eh, I'm doing quite well right now.

Now I've only got one more test to study for, pack up my shit, and draw some cute ducks for my bro-in-law's sister's new baby (or my sister's soon to be born niece/nephew). I'm confusing myself now. My brain is so empty right now. And I think my mf likes to make fun of me a little too much, if it weren't funny I might be mad, so right now I'll think I'll satisfy myself by playfully hitting him.

Damn, I don't want to pack, and I don't even have that much stuff. Did I mention I don't have any thumbnails to do? Oh yeah, I did. WOOHOO! I'm going insane. Insane in the membrain. Insane in the brain. I'll go and try to do something productive before work time rolls around.

Well...the review was today, I won't find out anything till Monday or Tuesday when my evaluation comes in the mail. So now I wait, and I suppose I could study for my test on Monday, but not tonight. Tonight? I don't know what I'm doing, probably the same thing I do every Friday night which is essentially nothing. I feel like I should go out or something, but I am really not in the mood.

Sorry, I've got nothing fun to share. Maybe I'll think up something more interesting to say later. Right now I just feel like nothing. I can't believe I'm done with the semester (Graphic Design wise that is). Free time is such a new concept.

Maybe I Should Become a Mounty

Man am I tired of mounting crap. Those of you who aren't Comm Designers don't go thinking dirty thoughts. It's not THAT kind of mounting, if it were I don't think I'd be talking about it in public. ANYWAYS...I guess that's how you know you're brain's pretty much done thinking for the day, because when you run out of ideas it's been observed many MANY times that one's mind goes to food or sex or both. And I'm quite hungry, and I'm thinking up distasteful mounting jokes, and I cannot remember what I was really going to write about. Oh wait, yeah I do, I was going to complain about mounting and being hungry.

I'm so out of it, and it's not even 11 o'clock yet which is quite early for me to be THIS tired. I think a lot of it has to do with me be so anxious and I can't seem to fully relax, ERGO me not being able to sleep well. I don't even know if I used "ergo" correctly, but it sounded cool in my head.

I don't have anything really very interesting to say, I've been doing the same old crap as I was doing yesterday and the day before. Okay, so maybe it's not that "old" of crap since it's really only been the third day that I've been working like this, but I'll be so relieved when I turn all this "stuff" in. (Apparently I have siblings reading some of my ravings now so I'm going to try and cut back on the swearing. Maybe starting off this post with "mounting" jokes wasn't the best idea...) So I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I smell, and I think I'm going to solve at least ONE of those problems in the near future.

Off I go to do mundane things.

Random Quote of the Day

It's on my "To Do" list!

Is That a B+ AND an A- I See?!

Or maybe the sun is just playing tricks with my eyes, but...it can't be, it's too cloudy out. WOO! I got a good grade(s) on my marks! Saweet. I think I'm done fiddling with my collateral as well. My prof liked my original design better than my new one, but he said that they both worked well, SO....now I'm going to do two different boards so I can turn in one as a secondary design. I'm quite alright with that, and since I just got done with the "finishing touches" all I need to do is mount them. I also need to remount all of my marks, I didn't realize I had to put my company description on them and I need to do more color exploration with them anyways.

I'm beginning to feel much more confident now, and my prof gave us all a little pep talk today on how if we didn't make it through it's not that we don't have potential, we just need more time to learn the skills and methods needed to be successful in the program and ultimately in the comm design profession. So yeah, not like a person wouldn't still be upset, he's just trying to make sure that no one does anything TOO crazy...because that would be bad. There's enough craziness in the world as it is.

Anywho, I should probably get to studying for my Anthro Lab final. I know most of the material and how to spell "Sahelanthropus" and "Proconsul africanus" and shit like that, so I'm not cramming or anything. Alls I need to do is make sure I'm not missing anything, and then I'll cram. I'll catch you all up some more with the "Misadventures of Miss Missy" later on. Byee.

Random Quote of the Day

I'm doing the best I ever did. I'm doing the best that I can. Now go away.

Are You Absolutely Positive It's ONLY Tuesday?!

Is it only Tuesday? This blows. It's only Tuesday and I just feel really tired and I didn't eat as much as I should of earlier, but I'll be fixing that soon before I go to work. I'm happier with my collateral designs though, I thought up something that I think is better than what I showed on Monday, hopefully my prof agrees.

Crap. I still have a test to study for too. I'm just so anxious about this review, and I want this week to be over with already. I don't feel as stressed as I allowed myself to be yesterday. Damnit, I got some things sticky with that Dr. Pepper I spilled last night. "Note to Self: don't leave have drunk cans of soda on the floor near your bed." Right.

Still working on getting my shit together for Friday and I'm making good progress, no serious casualities as of yet (let's hope it stays that way). Also, I'm not sure if listening to "Godsmack" is the best "good mood" music, but it sounds really good to me at the moment. Though "Godsmack" is immensly better than listening to "Korn", I cannot listen to a whole CD of them at all without feeling utterly depressed.

Alright, enough music review, I'm going to get me something to eat before I go to work (a place I'd rather not go, but I need money, so alas). These lyrics don't make any sense, but it sure sounds cool.

Toodles.

What Would I Do?

Stressing the Issue

So....I'm a little down. After seeing everyone's marks today in their full glory I feel very inadequate. I mean yeah, sure, my ideas are good a executed well, but I don't feel as though I stood out in any way. I feel very run of the mill and I'm seriously doubting my ability to passed this damned review. I think a lot of my problem is that I'm too conservative in my designs, they keep telling us that we're students and we're not risking any real client's money on this stuff and we should go kind of wild. Take some risks.

I thought up a couple more letterhead designs after my prof showed us some interesting examples of professional work, but I already have a good layout that needs some tweeking that I can fall back on if these new ideas don't work too well, or they end up not seeming right for my company.

I hate wating for the printer, I need to print out a smaller version of my typography poster for the review WHICH IS ON FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!

I was really calm yesterday, but now the pressure of all this is starting to build up and I'm starting get nervous. Okay, I AM nervous....and agitated and frustrated and probably not a very fun person to be around at the moment. I don't even have a backup plan if I happen to fail and just thinking about it is starting to stress me out again. Actually I kind of do have a backup plan and that's to go through all this shit again if need be. I can't think of any other major that I really want to take and I'm really quite stubborn.

I can do this. "I'm smart enough, I'm good enough, and gosh darnit! People like me." They do, people like me, it might be kind of a small number, but I do know that people like me. I just wish this weren't such a competition to get in because someone I know (maybe even me) is bound to get the axe, and that's just depressing. Crap.

I don't think I'm handling this stress thing too well, but I guess not many people do.
