Recap: Grads, Newlyweds, and PS3s

I know, I know, it's been a while, but I was plagued by bouts of extreme business and then a bout of extreme laziness. I always seem to come back around though.

Like I said, much business, graduated with my BFA (woohoo!), sister's wedding (schway cool), vacate to EP (relax), start work as a now salaried employee, turn 22 (yay B-day!), buy new TV and Playstation 3 (kicks much ass), graduate status revoked (boo, I'll explain later), and, finally (I say finally, but it was really only a day), graduate status re-invoked (yay!).

So, graduation was pretty sweet (way too many Business Majors though, bleck). Went to the Ponder Steakhouse for a celebratory lunch (if you live in the DFW area, I need to take you there sometime, it's berry nice). Got to spend some fun time with my childhood friend "Betty". Went to a grad party where I got to see drunk people play Nintendo Wii (now THAT'S entertainment). Much fun to be had by all.

Then a week after that, my sister gets married (super yay!). Very lovely wedding, (mix of traditional American wedding with some integrated Indian customs, very cool) and my new bro-in-law's relatives are really fun (if you've never danced to Indian Dance music, you're missing out (I'm actually being serious)). My dad had many a tequilla shot and was prodded to sing Johnny Horton's "The Battle of New Orleans" when there was some technical difficulty with the DJ equipment. Only made more fun by my uncle (my dad's older bro) felt compelled to join in. Ah, two old, drunk, tone-deaf guys singing a song that should have never been created.

Next in line is my trip down to EP. Which, while nothing remarkable happened (other than me giving my dad a car for his birthday...well, giving him back HIS car, ahem.) it was nice. I like to chill out and relax and EP is a good place to do that.

So after about a week in EP, I come back home and start work on the 29th of May. Nothing real special there, I've been doing this job for a year and half now, except now I'm getting paid more and working full-time. Other than pretty much the same, but with a new boss, moved cubes, and got another BGLS (Brand, Graphics, & Literature Service) teammate. Alright, so it's changed some, but still basically the same.

So then we enter the frustation of yesterday and today where my mom get's a letter from my school saying that because I got a NP (No Pass) in one of my classes I don't graduate. This class was Pass/No Pass class for a reason...I didn't need the credit and Pass/No Pass standing in a class doesn't affect your GPA.

Hmmm...I wonder why I blew it off?

Maybe because I had enough other crap to do with my Senior Portfolio and work it was really hard for me to care about a class that I didn't need. Well, I did need it for one thing, otherwise I would've dropped it, and that's for Financial Aid. I needed to be a full-time student to receive any, and by the time I talked to my advisor and she informed that the class was unnecessary it was too late to register for another class. So I explained all this today to the advisor that's in charge of graduation stuff (probably the same on I talked to at the beginning of the Spring Semester). I was really afraid that either I was misadvised or misunderstood. Though after going through one of my old degree plans I was quite sure I filled all my requirements. Fortunately, the advisor agreed with me and now I'm a graduate again (yay!).

So, this rapid turn of events regarding my diploma caused me to stress out a fair amount. Granted, I shouldn't have freaked out like I did (and I really kind of did, I promise I'm sane, just a little unstable at times, particularly when something really unexpected comes up and I'm really unsure of what might happen...which when I think about it would stress many people), but man, I worked my ass off for 4 years and I would have been really ticked off and embarrassed to go from graduating with honors to not graduating and having to take one crap class to fill my degree.

I'm glad to be done with school.

(I'm also glad I have a PS3, because it kicks ass. Oh, and Blue-Ray movies, on an HDTV, look quite awesome.)
